NO WAY! You are not the boss of me!They have been in the NFL for a total of 18 seasons. Do you know how many combined games they have missed due to injury? Hold out one hand, then chop off your thumb and pinkie. The TD potential of the Carr/Cousins combo is pretty compelling; 2 competent middle of the pack QBs, each with one of the league's best receivers and decent ground games.
The downside, of course, is just 2 QB. You have to ride the other if one gets hurt. Luckily the byes are pretty early, weeks 6/7.
This brings up a good question - which is safer? 2 pocket passers who have proven reliable, or 3 running QB's?I am just saying there is risk with going with 2. And it is a non-zero chance that despite their history they could get hurt playing NFL football. As Harry Callahan said "Do you feel lucky?" Still, a compelling combo that could pay off big.

At QB, I wish I could find a way to squeeze Pickett in as the third QB.
At RB, I really wanted Javonte Williams at $25 over Chubb, but I'm I can't seem to find another buck unless I roll with 2 and 3 ratio of defenses/kickers. I could also save a buck if I downgrade one of my upside young WRs to low ceiling vet. I'm looking at you AJ Green and Sammy Watkins. I am worried that Chubb will see stacked boxes all season long. I'm counting on Dobbins being healthy, the Ravens running a lot, and him getting the lion's share of the touches. Like everyone else, Robinson and Pierce are locked in. I think Wilson and Moss are best $3 bets you can make at RB. I wish I could squeeze Mike Davis in some how.
At WR, I'm choosing to believe the narratives that JJ will be this year's Kupp and Renfrow will be peak Welker/Edelman. These two also give me a couple of QB/WR stacks. Kirk feels like a volume based safe floor. My other WRs are upside plays. As mentioned above, Watkins/Green might replace one of them so I have that extra buck for Javonte.
At TE, I want Kelce as I don't believe in any other receiver in KC. If there was a year he gets absolutely force fed, this is it. Schultz is playing this season for the bag, has a rapport with Dak, and there are plenty of targets up for grabs in Dallas. IMO Alie-Cox is the best low cost TE available and I think he outperforms his cost.
Any feedback is totally appreciated.
it would take better researcher than me to answer that. I can see the logic of pocket passers less likely than runners to get hurt. Just looking at last year (small sample for sure):This brings up a good question - which is safer? 2 pocket passers who have proven reliable, or 3 running QB's?I am just saying there is risk with going with 2. I appreciate the feedback! At QB, I wish I could find a way to squeeze Pickett in as the third QB. You can, without changing much. But it will cost you one of your 3 D's.
At RB, I really wanted Javonte Williams at $25 over Chubb, but I'm I can't seem to find another buck unless I roll with 2 and 3 ratio of defenses/kickers. If you really want Javonte, I would package up Chubb and Moss. I think Jeff Wilson is the better $3 pick.
At WR, I'm choosing to believe the narratives that JJ will be this year's Kupp and Renfrow will be peak Welker/Edelman. Kirk feels like a volume based safe floor. My other WRs are upside plays. As mentioned above, Watkins/Green might replace one of them so I have that extra buck for Javonte. I like the group, and it's nice to see someone spending on a top stud. I would revisit Doubs right before the contest closes, to see if he is still garnering the praise.
At TE, I love Kelce as I don't believe in any other receiver in KC. If there was a year he gets absolutely force fed, this is it. Schultz is playing this season for the bag, has a rapport with Dak, and there are plenty of targets up for grabs in Dallas. So you're saying they're both due for season-ending injuries? They have been in the NFL for a total of 18 seasons.
I started with Cousins/Carr, but have moved to either Allen or Herbert and a cheapy combo backup (Mariota/Ridder or Trubisky/Pickett). Now I'm actually considering taking the risk on Mariota/Pickett, thinking (hoping?) that Mariota can hold onto the job long enough and Pickett can take over by the time of the stud's bye, giving me two guys that week instead of one. Of course, the downside possibility is that Mariota loses the job and Trubisky hangs on and I don't have either one for the stud's bye.I was saying I like the idea of rostering both Mariota and Ridder. But I think of it more like this - you are not purchasing Mariota for $5 and Ridder for $4 - you are purchasing each one for $9, but it's a buy one, get one free deal. And they come with a safety net, because if one gets injured, the other is still the starter.
So as we start to get closer to lock, anyone have any good ideas on how we can do some sort of live scoring each week? @Joe Bryant or @Contest Turk will there be anything within the contest itself that does live scoring or are we just working something outside of it?
I understand what you are thinking, but you are targeting guys you expect to be part time contributors in hopes that they combine for one full time guy. Have thought about just adding a cheaper full time guy with decent job security in the $8-10 range instead?I started with Cousins/Carr, but have moved to either Allen or Herbert and a cheapy combo backup (Mariota/Ridder or Trubisky/Pickett). Sure, except I'm not "hoping" they'll combine to be one starter--they necessarily WILL combine for one starter. $8-10 gives you Mac Jones or Tannehill. FBG projects them for about 355 points. Mariota/Ridder combine for 389, Trubisky/Pickett for 356. So, pairing likely gives you as many points AND you have a slight edge against injury that you wouldn't have taking just one guy.I understand what you are thinking, but you are targeting guys you expect to be part time contributors in hopes that they combine for one full time guy. not if you go the Mariota-Pickett route that you also mentioned. And, with all due respect to FBG rankings, I think there are a few other viable options for consideration beyond Jones and Tannehill...like Ryan, Wentz, Goff...maybe even as low as a Davis Mills since you are really leaning on Herbert or Allen anyway. Whatever you choose here, the combos or single, you aren't looking to depend on them weekly with the stud on your roster. I am not sure what the matchups look like during the Allen/Herbert bye weeks for those combos or singles, but if I were to go this route, I would probably give that some serious consideration in my choice.they necessarily WILL combine for one starter.
Adjusted some weight from WR to RB and not sure I like it much better. Feels thin.Sorry for the slow reply. Was digging through old threads, and it's taking forever! Here goes...QB - Kirk Cousins - MIN/7 - $14
QB - Derek Carr - LV/6 - $13
RB - Saquon Barkley - NYG/9 - $26
RB - Rhamondre Stevenson - NE/10 - $15
RB - Dameon Pierce - HOU/6 - $10
RB - Brian Robinson - WAS/14 - $7

TD - New York Giants - NYG/9 - $3
TD - Minnesota Vikings - MIN/7 - $3
TD - Arizona Cardinals - ARI/13 - $3
QB - I am 99.99% sure I will roster the same 2 QB's, and feel no need to carry a 3rd. You don't get much rushing, but they are both capable of monster yards passing.
RB - I like the guys and may roster them all, but I think you may be counting too much on them. Unless Damien Harris gets traded or injured, this may be a case like Melvin/Javonte from last year. And Antonio Gibson/JD McKissic are still on the Redskins, so you have to temper expectations on Robinson. He may end up being TD dependent in the contest. If I decide to carry only 4, I want a warmer fuzzy. I think you went too thin here.
WR - I think you went too thick here. Five over $15 means you are guaranteed to have $16 minimum on your bench each week, on a single player. Again, like the players, but would consider moving some $$ up to RB.
TE - 2 studs... enough said
K - Monitor Gano's concussion. They just brought in Ryan Santoso, but this is surely Gano's job when healthy. Fairbairn and Gonzalez are safe.
D - MIN and ARI are on my short list, and have made my cut nearly every time. 3 for $9 and you can't go wrong.
You sure you want to go with those 2 scrub QB's?Boom. I'm done.

Loyalty to reward what J has built here.I just wanted to stop and take a moment to recognize a few FBG'ers. The following 9 members are the only ones that have posted in every contest thread since 2012:
@apalmer @rzrback77 @KingPrawn @The Man With No Name @BassNBrew @QuizGuy66 @Saint @Ignoratio Elenchi @TwinTurbo
and these 3 will join them as soon as they post in this thread: @LittlePhatty @Don Quixote @chocula
There were plenty of folks who just missed a single season. I spent many hours digging through the threads, and I am in awe of the loyalty shown by you folks. Cheers!
Agreed. Hats off to you, Sir!Loyalty to reward what J has built here.
Week 14 BYEFYI - Rodrigo Blankenship has won the Colts kicking job, and they waived Jake Verity. I am guessing many will swap one of their $3 options for him now, preferably Cairo Santos if you had him.

22 Player Rooster drop.. iteration 10.2
QB - Kirk Cousins - MIN/7 - $14
QB - Derek Carr - LV/6 - $13
Loaded receiving options and Minnesota trending towards emphasizing the air McNair philosophy. Final version will probably have Pickett since he looked great and soooo cheap
RB - Ezekiel Elliott - DAL/9 - $23
RB - J.K. Dobbins - BAL/10 - $21
RB - Rashaad Penny - SEA/11 - $15
RB - James Cook - BUF/7 - $15
RB - Dameon Pierce - HOU/6 - $10
Good bye distribution with several players who aren’t very popular compared to others posting here. Last couple seasons been shocked Buffalo hasn’t replaced Moss and Singletary. They are better suited as backups. Cook is talented enough to be RB1 and my bet for Offense ROY. Sorry Pickett and Pickens. Obviously I’m in the Elliott is still a RB 1 camp projecting 1600 combined yards and 12 TD. Dobbins is priced closer to his floor and easily obliterates his price tag if healthy. Penny probably won’t stick on my final roster, but is the only week 11 bye and has a higher weekly floor than someone like Robinson.
WR - Allen Robinson - LAR/7 - $20
WR - Courtland Sutton - DEN/9 - $19
WR - Hunter Renfrow - LV/6 - $15
WR - Michael Gallup - DAL/9 - $9
WR - Sammy Watkins - GB/14 - $4
Yes. I know Sutton and Gallup both have a week 9 bye. Not ideal with only 5 WR rostered, but I see them both as extremely good value. Only other week 9 bye rostered is a RB. Renfrow should be high volume and ARob bounces back to the top with a real QB.
Each season, somebody unexpectedly bursts onto the scene week 1 becoming the hot waiver wire pickup. Doubs is getting all the press and Lazard is JAG. Keeping an eye on GB situation and feel Watkins becomes the new #1 WR for back to back NFL MVP Rodgers. Watkins is currently on 100% of my 25 money league rosters.
Faded popular Pickens. I’m a huge fan but I don’t think he comes close to Gallup production which is the player I’d have to sacrifice to add another week 9 wideout. Pickens will count for people, so not slamming anyone for rostering him.
TE - Travis Kelce - KC/8 - $30
TE - Dallas Goedert - PHI/7 - $15
TE - Taysom Hill - NO/14 - $5
TE - Foster Moreau - LV/6 - $4
Kelce is the only week 8 bye. Goedert should contribute as a high floor TE. Hill and Moreau are wild cards with potential to be league winners down the stretch.
PK - Rodrigo Blankenship - IND/14 - $3

I'm going to wear this for a day and see how it feels:
Winston moving up in my redraft ranking (more a vibe than a ranking)
- QB - Josh Allen - BUF/7 - $25
- QB - Jameis Winston - NO/14 - $12
Not budging on these four. Considering adding a fifth.
- RB - Rhamondre Stevenson - NE/10 - $15
- RB - James Cook - BUF/7 - $15
- RB - Dameon Pierce - HOU/6 - $10
- RB - Brian Robinson - WAS/14 - $7
Dropped Pickens and Pierce, for now. Have DeVonta Smith on my mind. Thinking there my be an old timey year-3 WR breakout with Guyton; he's probably got 3-4 good best ball weeks in him.
- WR - DK Metcalf - SEA/11 - $16
- WR - Elijah Moore - NYJ/10 - $13
- WR - Kadarius Toney - NYG/9 - $11
- WR - Nico Collins - HOU/6 - $10
- WR - Jahan Dotson - WAS/14 - $9
- WR - Skyy Moore - KC/8 - $9
- WR - Jalen Guyton - LAC/8 - $3
Crazy, like a fox, right?

- TE - Mark Andrews - BAL/10 - $28
- TE - Kyle Pitts - ATL/14 - $24
PK - Evan McPherson - CIN/10 - $6
TD - Dallas Cowboys - DAL/9 - $7
3 PK, 3 TD has been my comfort zone for a long time, but this year I've got high hopes for the Dallas defense posting several 25-30 point weeks (You may say that I'm a dreamer), so I'm willing to put my TD eggs in one basket. Common sense says I ought to convert McPherson into two $3 kickers.I'm going to wear this for a day and see how it feels:

This one has a lot that I like but a few things that are less than ideal based on the wisdom more experienced folks have generously shared here.
3 @QB for $36 - a little high but I like this group
QB - Trey Lance - SF/9 - $15

3@TE for $23 a little low in cash allocation and strength but wanted to keep 3
TE - David Njoku - CLE/9 - $9
TE - Hayden Hurst - CIN/10 - $8
TE - Mo Alie-Cox - IND/14 - $6
PK - Graham Gano - NYG/9 - $3
PK - Austin Seibert - DET/6 - $3
PK - Rodrigo Blankenship - IND/14 - $3
TD - Baltimore Ravens - BAL/10 - $4
TD - Minnesota Vikings - MIN/7 - $3
TD - Detroit Lions - DET/6 - $3
Fun to think about this one. Can kickers and D at least get split in two? Would also allow you to combine some WR to get at least 1 hero.I'm going to wear this for a day and see how it feels:
- TE - Travis Kelce - KC/8 - $30
- TE - Mark Andrews - BAL/10 - $28
- TE - Kyle Pitts - ATL/14 - $24
PK - Evan McPherson - CIN/10 - $6
TD - Dallas Cowboys - DAL/9 - $7
@TheWinz, so say we pull gonzalez for blankenship. gives 2 week 14 bye kickers.... roll with it or do you have a replacement for santos?Gonzalez hurt warming up. Adjust your lineups.
And less than 5 hours later, I had to swap out 2 of my 3 kickers. Not sure what it would take to make any changes from here besides an injury. Havent changed this lineup for about 5 days…

The list below is compliments of @ZWK@TheWinz, so say we pull gonzalez for blankenship. gives 2 week 14 bye kickers.... roll with it or do you have a replacement for santos?Gonzalez hurt warming up. Adjust your lineups.
Damn, great write up.Didn't even know about Fairbairn's injury. Guess the good thing is we have time to see how it goes. The list below is compliments of @ZWK@TheWinz, so say we pull gonzalez for blankenship. gives 2 week 14 bye kickers.... roll with it or do you have a replacement for santos?Gonzalez hurt warming up. I wanted to keep all 32 teams on here, so you could see how ZWK ranked them in terms of job security in May. All $3 kicker options are bolded and I will discuss each:
BAL
ATL
BUF
LV
LAC
KC
CAR - Based on this list, Zane Gonzalez is the safest cheap kicker and not losing his job without injury. But did that just happen? I don't plan on carrying a kicker with a known groin injury 2 weeks before kickoff. With limited $3 options, it sucks to see him carted off, and he is now on my DND list. I know it's minor, but he was the only $3 option with his bye week, so that made him a bit more valuable in my eyes.
CIN
SF
LAR
NE
PHI
NYG - This blows! I actually considered Graham Gano safer than Zane, but he is currently dealing with a concussion. The Giants have brought in recently released Ryan Santoso as a fill-in, but signs point to Gano being ready for week 1. He is still near the top of my cheapie kicker list, but I will have a talk with his doctor before I submit my final roster. Just like Zane, being the only week 9 cheapie was a bonus to me.
TB
ARI
CHI - If you asked me a week ago, I would've said Cairo Santos was my week 14 cheapie of choice. But times have changed, and I am willing to take a risk. See Blankenship below for further details.
MIA
WAS
DEN
TEN
PIT
HOU - The $3 dudes are dropping like flies! The Texans just signed Matt Ammendola because Ka'imi Fairbairn is dealing with an "undisclosed short term injury". I tried to find the nature of his injury online, but every entry is so cryptic, it's like some sort of HIPAA violation. Last year at this same time, Fairbairn suffered a groin injury and ended up missing the first 3 games of the season. For now, I am treating Fairbairn the same as Zane, and putting him on my Dungeons & Dragons list.
NO
CLE
MIN
GB
NYJ - I've yet to have Greg Zuerlein on any of my submissions. Sure, he beat out Eddy Pineiro, but simply saying "camp battle with Eddy Pineiro" doesn't give me a warm fuzzy. At least he is healthy at the moment, and that's more than I can say about many on this list.
IND - My golden rule is simply - Roster the 3 cheapest safest ones with different byes and move on. Well, the options are dwindling, and Rodrigo Blankenship has moved up the "safe" list, based both on his health and beating out the competition. I hate that he shares a bye with Santos, because gun to my head at the moment, I say Santos is the most likely $3 kicker to not miss any games.
JAC - We can move on, as there are no contest options on the Jaguars.
SEA
DET - Austin Seibert is appealing, but he is way down here for a reason. Gotta love being a dome kicker with an early bye though, and I would choose him over Fairbairn (also a week 6 bye) right now.
DAL
I will say you are a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I don't think you realize how rare a 20 point game is for a defense in this contest. Last year it happened 3 times (20, 20, and 21) out of 512 games. But hey, who am I to stand in the way of someone's dreams?I've got high hopes for the Dallas defense posting several 25-30 point weeks (You may say that I'm a dreamer), so I'm willing to put my TD eggs in one basket.
FWIW, I just changed my submission to Blankenship, Gano, and Seibert. I prefer my kicker injuries to be head-related.Damn, great write up.Didn't even know about Fairbairn's injury. Guess the good thing is we have time to see how it goes.
haha was just going to say the same thing. How big of a deal is a concussion for a kicker anyways? The risk of him being hit in the head again in the season are rare.FWIW, I just changed my submission to Blankenship, Gano, and Seibert. I prefer my kicker injuries to be head-related.Damn, great write up.Didn't even know about Fairbairn's injury. Guess the good thing is we have time to see how it goes.
It really sucks, I'm just not going to have time. I had fun with it last year.So as we start to get closer to lock, anyone have any good ideas on how we can do some sort of live scoring each week? @Joe Bryant or @Contest Turk will there be anything within the contest itself that does live scoring or are we just working something outside of it?
@kyter1 I know you won't be able to do it, but any suggestions on how one of us could do a live scoring spreadsheet like you did last year? I really don't know all the ins and outs of how you put it together but I would be willing to learn..
I feel seen.Hate this contest. Even when I get it narrowed down to to rosters I really like i go back and forth between the two. One is lean at 21 players but I like the studs I have and the bye week distribution. The other swaps a couple of those studs out for a little more depth at 25 players and some slight overlapping of byes. Trying to thread the needle between injury risk and playing it safe is tough.
Yea I have no idea what you just said....may take someone who deals with that a bit more often than my meatball head to do it.It really sucks, I'm just not going to have time. I probably have about 60% or more done. You'll need to have 'Spyder' application to run a python query (already built just needs to be updated). If anyone is interest I'll try to do a better job outlining what is needed than what I did below.
High-Level what else has to happen is someone has to create a account at one of the FF Sites (won't name here) and set up the scoring and load all the players to a team, update my files with the 2022 information from that League site (gets the live scoring), get the players from the contest and map them with the player API out so you have a base player table. Once all the team are set you'll need to the full roster of contest teams and put them into one of my existing files.
During the games you'll refresh the base table to get the Live API and then run the Python script to create an output with the scores. Each week, you'll need to drop all the eliminated team (I meant to create a flag last year and didn't get to it). If you can create a flag you could technically keep the eliminated ones and show how they would have done each week along the cut line.
