dead money left - Jaylen Wright (just missed this week!), Treylon Burks (I admit i'm not sure who this is), David Njoku (welcome back), and Jason Sanders (waiting for Tua) - $29
only guy to contribute all 5 weeks - Nico (uh-oh)

I haven't made it this far in a few years when I had made a deep run (2019 maybe) and I'm doing reasonably well so far. It was nice to see Troy Franklin get involved last week. He dropped what would have been an impressive but doable catch for a long TD. I thought C Tillman might become a thing in Cleveland but their season is still young. I haven't thought much about upcoming byes...

C Samuel easily my worst pick (and across my portfolio as well) at $11 - I should have bailed when I heard the words turf toe
R Doubs at $10 well he scored for me once in week 1 and would like to see him come out of this situation stronger but I'm not really feeling it
T Hill at $8 at TE hasn't been great but there is room for that to still pay off. TE def my weak spot Ferguson is my shining star there.

My rookie 1/2 QB punch for $33 Caleb/Jayden is holding it down nicely. Jayden got off to a much better start but Caleb has been heating up and looking real good out there.
My RC corps is impressive in early returns:

Swift 17
Chase Brown 13
Brian Robinson 13
Ford 11
J Wright 7
Tracy 5
Bigsby 5

WRs another story I need my main producers to stay that way - Metcalf, McLaurin, Shaheed, Jameson Williams, Doubs
Probably need a few flex scores from my RBs to keep advancing but I think this team has legs.

190 but lost rice.
With him not counting this week, I’m down to two players who counted every week - Nabers and Friermuth.

The JW’s haven’t counted yet - javonte Williams and Jaylen Wright. I didn’t expect wright to do anything until mid to late season, so we’ll see how this works out.
Both JWs countered this week but Nabers obviously didn’t. So no “dead money” and the ‘Muth is the only player counting every week.

166 points here in week 5, +46.65 over the cutline. Averages so far are 168.9 and +44.62, lows were in week 1 at 133.95 and +11.45.

23 of my 29 players, and $229 of my $250, have started games.

Malik Nabers the biggest hit so far. $3 Tre Tucker the best value. Mahomes the biggest disappointment. Rashee Rice looks done for the year; no other major injuries though some missed games.

3 of my cheap RBs haven't seen the ball on offense (including 2 who haven't even seen the field), but on the whole my cheap RBs (6 players for $17) have been done well. My other 3 guys without a start yet have all been involved and seem likely to contribute at some point (Ja'Lynn Polk, Theo Johnson, LV D).

I'm out, so I get to root for you all, as well as the 5 groupthink teams, who are all still alive.

18-20 player roster - Forum Wars I: The Bantam Menace (team 111726)
Hasn't been below 161. Like everyone else, lost Rice. No unused $$.

21-23 player roster - League of Ordinary Gentlemen (team 111725)
Scrappy team with injuries galore. Only player used every week is Nico, so get well very soon!

24-27 player roster - Plato's Cave (team 111724)
Over 190 in 3 weeks, but had a scare in week 5. Nice to have KW3 back with Achane getting concussed.

28-30 player roster - The Bargain Bin (team 111727)
Strong team that has yet to sweat the line. Usually alot of dead money with big rosters, but only $19 so far.

Most common roster - No Bikini Required (team 111728)
Saved by Kittle and Little this week. The only groupthink team to top 200. This team's goal was to choose who they thought would be the contest's most common players. So, how did they do?

QB - #4 and #5
RB - #1, #3, #6, #9, #14, #18, #22
WR - #1, #2, #3, #4, #8, #16, #22
TE - #1, #2, #3
PK - #3, #10, #15
TD - #1 and #7

My 29 man rooster survived easily with 172pts, but I won't have enough firepower if I make it to the playoffs. Lost Rice just like the rest. My RBs are horrible, but at least I have 7 of them, including Jaylen Wright and Tyrone Tracy, which look a tiny bit more interesting now.

Nabers/McLaurin/Brian Thomas are pretty much carrying me, with occasional help from others. 5 low-priced TEs have been largely a success (Likely,Taysom,Sinnott,Theo,Parkinson.)

QBs are meh. Stafford needs Puka and Kupp back, but Caleb seems like he's starting to turn the corner. Fields may lose his job?

Hurry back Shakir & Nico

Not looking so psychic now.

WR Nico Collins - $2215.80
WR DK Metcalf - $219.50
WR Malik Nabers - $190.00
WR Rashee Rice - $130.00
WR Brian Thomas Jr. - $1323.20
WR Khalil Shakir - $100.00

I meant “pyschic” as in “premonition of which WRs will get injured”.
Sorry I didn’t make that clear in my previous post.

;)

Still in this but losing Rashee for that long will hurt and probably catch up to me. But that's why you go for the bigger rosters.

The only player I have not used at least once is Taysom Hill.

This has been a really crazy season so far. The injuries we have seen in the first 5 weeks seem far more than in past seasons.

It sucks that the Turk knocked on so many doors this past week for people in our group. I was rooting for Mahomes to put up good numbers Monday night to get @TheWinz over the top, but sadly it did not happen.

So far this season, this is the tally of the number of players I have had out with injuries:

Week 2 = 3 players
Week 3 = 5 players
week 4 = 3 players
Week 5 = 6 players (plus 4 more on bye)
Week 6 outlook: Potentially 3 - 6 hurt (and 3 more on bye week)

I think any other year with this many injuries, I would be on the outside looking in by now. But somehow I managed to squeak by last week on the merits on a large roster where players that usually do not score enough to count actually chipped in their minimal points to get me over the cut line.

So we'll see how it goes in week 6. I'm hoping I get back at least a couple of the players I have been without due to injuries.

Good luck to everyone who survived the Turk in week 5.
And lastly, BIG SHOUT OUT to @Army Eye for giving us live scoring and a live cut line. Gotta love that ‼️

Injuries have certainly been brutal... Went with my smallest rooster ever at 20.. and it is certainly more sweating with the Turk than ever before. From an injury count:

Week 2: Down 3 players
Week 3: Down 4 players
Week 4: Down 5 players
Week 5: Down 4 players (with 4 on bye

This week.. hoping the Eagles get things figured out as the Eagles stack Hurts-AJB-Devonta have not been panning out the way I had hoped.

I forgot to check my team this past weekend, but luckily survived by about 11 points. I am sweating the Turk every week going forward. He has my number on speed dial each year and I am hoping to survive a few more weeks.

The Rice injury hurts me here, but i had him on pretty much every fantasy team I have this year.

All five of the group think teams surviving is remarkable. I believe a little over 50% of the original entries have been cut. So to have all five of these teams survive through week 5 is only about a 20% chance. It really lends credence to the old adage, "The wisdom of the crowd".

There’s also the adage “dumb luck” ;)

After realizing we have crossed the threshold of being halfway through the cut down, I wanted to say congratulations to everyone who has been lucky enough to make it this far!

Additionally, I was curious if the competition is getting stiffer as we get deeper into the contest. I thought a good way to put context around that question was to look at the overall scoring of the contest through 5 weeks. I took every entry who survived each week and recorded their minimum, mean and maximum weekly score up to and including that week. I then averaged them for all surviving entries. My expectation was moving through the contest, the surviving teams would be stronger teams and have higher average scores. (I was also curious how my team was performing compared to the average.)

What I found was somewhat surprising. The average performance has not changed much. And my team is right around the average. My scores (min, mean, max) were 135.3, 163.2, 189.35. All in line with teams surviving through week 5. I'm curious if anyone here is drastically different?

I was concerned that my team while above average in the beginning, was rapidly becoming one of the weaker teams in the contest. I think this tells me that if you were good enough to make it this far, you're probably good enough to keep advancing. I can check it again in week 10 and see if a different trend emerges.

My min is 132.10, my average is 148.33, and my max is 170.3. Not loving that I'm below those averages in all 3 categories...

Missing 9 of my 24 this week.

The number of injuries is insane.
I'm very concerned about my squad right now. Nabers is out. Shakir is not looking likely, and Rice is donezo.

Running backs are gonna have to carry me this week. I need a D/ST & K to step up, too if I'm gonna have a chance to move on.

I was counting on Shakir as a healthy one. If not I'm rolling with the following locked in.

RB: Jacobs, JaVonte
WR: Jameson, Coleman
TE: Ferguson
Flex: Pitts, Bucky

Give my limited number of available players, I can stop wondering if that Long DK Metcalf Touchdown that was called back because of an unrelated procedure penalty will be my demise. Or at least be a missed salvation.

So far this year....

165.27 = Average
203.80 = High
133.50 = Low (last week)
Roster size = 26

I may be without as many as 9 or 10 players this week. But I'm off to a good start last night with 42.20 points from Kittle and KW3.

Thinking positive.... :towelwave:

Yeah, I might be cooked. DK's 52 yard TD woulda really helped, but alas, irrelevant penalty.

Now I have this:

Alas, Geno sucked, so I need Murray to have a monster game.

RB Kenneth Walker III - $2016.90
RB Devin Singletary - $150.00
RB Chase Brown - $130.00
RB Brian Robinson Jr. - $130.00
RB Ty Chandler - $80.00
RB Kimani Vidal - $30.00
WR Nico Collins - $220.00
WR DK Metcalf - $217.80
WR Malik Nabers - $190.00
WR Rashee Rice - $130.00
WR Brian Thomas Jr. - $130.00
WR Khalil Shakir - $100.00

still barely alive.
Min = 124.75 last week
Avg = 164
Max = 219.75 in week 3 (otherwise known as Jauan Jennings Week)

May Average is a hair above, um, average. I'd like to say it bodes well but I think Singletary, Rice, Shakir, McMillan, and Tayson Hill would beg to differ.

ETA: Roster size 24, and 3 players on a bye this week, not including Rice's bye since he's done.
