I have. It’s never worked out.I've just never gone stud-heavy and would like to try it
That said, I may have picked the wrong studs.

But regardless, going stud heavy doesn’t mean taking a doughnut at QB in week 6.

This is good but the real value in doing a points/dollar analysis is to rerun it a month after pricing comes out to see whose points/dollar changed the most from Aug 2 to Aug 31.
One man’s waste of time is another man’s obsession (and even bigger waste of time).putting any time into this now os a waste of time
I have already submitted alot of versions, and yes, I do it mainly for fun, knowing I am nowhere near my final roster. But, I do think there is value in it, because since the contest opened 16 days ago, I've been staring at the entry form so long, I have almost memorized the pricing. Also, I am a redrafter and this contest makes me start my research way earlier than I normally would. I bet some of my league mates don't even know about the WR holdouts or camp injuries. By the time I get to drafting, I may only need a pen and a blank piece of paper.Other than having some fun, putting any time into this now os a waste of time
Yes, in this contest, history says rostering multiple cheap kickers who keep their jobs the whole season score a decent amount more than the single expensive ones. And it's not even close. The fun comes in trying to determine whether the bargain bin kickers will keep their jobs or not. For the list above, we can easily break them down into 3 different groups. The first group will be the NFL vets:Regarding Kicker….
I think @TheWinz has posted stats many times showing that 3 $3 Ks outperform higher priced kickers in this best ball format. The trick is rostering $3 kickers who don’t get cut during the season (ignoring bad luck of injuries as well, of course).
So for this year’s contest, here are the $3 kickers:
$3-J Karty LAR/6
$3-J Slye NE/14
$3-N Folk TEN/5
$3-W Reichard MIN/6
$3-G Gano NYG/11
$3-J Bates DET/5
$3-C Little JAX/12
I don’t follow kickers closely but I feel like Gano, Slye and Folk, while “boring” selections, might be the safest names.
I’ve hoesntly never heard of Karty, Reichard or Little, and I heard UFL darling, Bates, might already have competition in camp.
Can anyone shed light on the above kicker situations?
Slye - 5 teams and he is only 28. NE had a horrible time last year with rookie Ryland, but he's still on the team battling with Slye. Of the 3 vets, he is the shakiest one IMO. But in his defense, he has kept his job 4 out of 5 seasons.
Folk - He hasn't missed a game in 4 seasons, and these last 4 are his best stretch ever. In 2022 he set the all-time record for consecutive FG's made under 50 yards at 64, and currently, he has the longest streak ever under 40 yards with 78. In these last 4 seasons, he has an overall FG rate of 91.8%, and has made (72.7%) from 50+. He is aging like a fine wine and the gig is his. If TEN opts to keep a 2nd kicker, it will be for kickoffs, and possibly extra long FG's. IMO he is safe.
Gano - Like Folk, he's been around forever. In 4 years for the Giants, he has kicked 87.7%, including a whopping 79.3% from 50+. He was hurt last year and kicking like crap before injury, but should beat out his training camp competition, as long as he can find his mojo. I would've put Gano above Folk in terms of job security, if not for his awful showing before injury last year.
The next group will be drafted rookies. I say drafted because my research says a team that uses a draft pick on a kicker tends to have a longer leash than an undrafted free agent. Over the last 5 years, here are all drafted rookies:
2023 - Moody, Ryland, Carlson - All 3 kept their jobs all season, but none were inside the top 20 in FG percentage. Ryland should've been cut, but I think Belichick just didn't even care enough to make a swap.
2022 - York - As the only drafted kicker, he kept his job all season, even though he sucked. He was tied for the league lead in FG's missed. Teams just aren't willing to give up on someone they drafted, I guess.
2021 - McPherson - Kept his job all season, and set the rookie record with 9 kicks from 50+.
2020 - Rohrwasser, Bass, Sloman - If you haven't heard of Rohrwasser, it's a good read. My short version - he's a Nazi and the Patriots didn't want the bad PR, so they waived him before the contest closed. Bass kept his job all season and scored well, but was K19 in FG accuracy. Sloman was a 7th round pick who blew chunks and was waived after 7 weeks. He kicked one more game after being sent packing to TEN, and hasn't been seen since.
2019 - Gay, Seibert - Both kept their jobs all season. Gay was only 77.1%, but Seibert did well at 86.2%.
So, over the last 5 years, a total of 10 K's have been drafted. Rohrwasser was the only one waived before the contest closed, so we can disregard him. That leaves Sloman as the only drafted rookie to lose his job due to suckage. This year Karty, Little, and Reichard are the drafted rookies. So far, Little and Reichard have already won whatever camp battles there may have been and are the only kickers on their teams. Karty and Tanner Brown are still fighting to be the Rams kicker, but my money is on Karty. Brown is just a camp body who went undrafted last year when the Rams picked him up, then waived him.
The last group is undrafted kickers, and consists of 1 guy. Jake Bates went undrafted in 2023, and he joined the UFL. He is known for a long leg, and kicked in Ford Field last year as a member of the Michigan Panthers. Coincidence that he is now on the Lions? Not much is known about his FG kicking, because it seems he was a kickoff specialist in college. I dug a bit deeper, and it turns out he is a converted soccer player. In High School, he is praised in soccer, but absolutely no mention of football. His first 2 seasons in college were soccer as well (Central Arkansas), again with no mention of football. Then, in 2020 he transferred to Texas State, where he was only used on kickoffs and attempted no FG's or EP's for 2 years. He transferred again in 2022 to Arkansas, where he was only used on kickoffs. I looked, but could find no mention of him ever even attempting a FG in a football game at any level until he joined the UFL last year. It seems his first FG attempt ever was a 64-yarder that he nailed! He went on to hit from 60 and 62 as well. In total, he went 21/28 in 11 games (75%). I can see the hype as far as long kicking is concerned, but just remember, he didn't attempt an in-game kick until he was 24 years old. To me, he is risky.
Of all 7 kickers for $3 this year, the 2 that scare me the most are Slye and Bates. The rest I feel pretty good about.

When I was big into competitive softball, I remember throwing as hard as I could in the the first practice, trying to "throw out" my arm. Once I did that, it was good to go for the season. These guys are doing the same with their hammies.I;m waiting for all the injury news to settle out before my roster is even close to being done.
Are all these injury reports legit, or are they just, "It's hot, I'm tired, I'm tired of this @#$%. Screw it, my knee/ankle hurts and I'm taking a couple days off."

@TheWinz changes his lineup 300x every night before bed to help him sleep.
list does not change at this point….always a few WRs that could be addedwr Tim Patrick of the Broncos not on the list? Is it set in stone now?
I mean why draft a good QB when you can have two crappy ones. This year is so difficult. I cannot come up with a team I like.

If you are tagged above, it's because you posted in either this thread already, or in last year's thread. And if you are not tagged, either because I couldn't find your name, or because you haven't posted, that's OK too. Anyways, Joe Bryant has given us permission to create 5 group submissions this year. These submissions will not be eligible for prizes, but should be a blast creating, using the collective brains of the board regulars.
If you would like to help out, reply to this post before the contest opens, which should be around 4 weeks from now. Once the contest opens, we can create a private conversation and get busy creating the 5 rosters. But we don't have to wait for the prices to come out to start discussions. I am going to see if I can create a conversation that will allow me to add people as they volunteer.

Don't know about Jacobs there, might play around with the RB1 spot. Rest of RBs remain the same.
Needed to find a way to get DK on the team. I think he goes off this season big. Rest remain the same.
Big shake up at TE... might be a mistake, but with the Dotson trade, Sinnot could become a huge part of this offense. Taysom is also getting a lot of praise and usage and being able to use him at TE seems like it really could work out in best ball. Bowers might give that late season push that's needed to win the thing during the playoffs.

Yep. I try to avoid late bye weeks. The cutoff in weeks 12-14 will be crazy. I need all hands-on deck those weeks.Week 5 - $48Completely changed things with a few more looks at it.

Week 6 - $23
Week 7 - $0
Week 9 - $18
Week 10 - $61
Week 11 - $43
Week 12 - $35
Week 14 - $22
$89 on the first 4 byes, $161 on the last 4 byes. A decent recipe to make it to week 10, but then it will get very difficult.
I was mulling over this teamI don't see a lot of teams opting for Nick Chubb. He seems like good value if he returns in week 5, and probably more likely great value if he returns earlier. Why does his temperature feel so cool in this contest? What do you think is giving people pause, his projected workload or his inability to return to form following injury?
