Bowers and Kittle have been a dynamic duo

Survival rate for ALL teams: 37.48 percent
Survival rate for teams with these players: 64.12 percent

At Tight End, I have:
George Kittle
David Njoku
Hunter Henry
Taysom Hill

I still only spent $46 at TE. Not bad when you consider that Kelce alone would have cost $30, and he's been largely a dud this year.
In 7 weeks, I've gotten 6 flex scores from the TE position. That was the plan all along because TE's produce more points per cap$ on average than RB or WR.

Survival rate for these teams is 100%.

There are only two of us, but we're both still alive in the contest.

Similar, just on a lesser scale hoping that the rookies contribute more as the season goes on.

I’m one. Thank you Ja’Tavion Sanders for showing up. Squeaked by mainly thanks to him blowing up.

LXB Titans felt pretty good about his mid-tier value selections of Tua and Bryce Young at the start of the season. But by week three he was taking zeros at the position. That entry was probably written off by its owner. But a team holding its own in this contest without a QB, that's like a three legged dog chasing a squirrel. Does it stand a chance? No. Will that prevent me from watching? Also no.

LXB Titans actually scored -0.2 at the QB position this week. That has to be a record low.
@Contest Turk There may be a flaw in the scoring. Tua's 0 is greater than -0.2 and should have counted instead.

We started this week with 34 folks eligible for @Joe Bryant extra $100 prize. We sadly say goodbye to @Tha Guru @ZWK @Mingooch :crying:
Moving on to week 8 are:

Of note
- a_troll00 was this week's top dog with a score of 203.20 (22nd overall)
- JaBoo was this week's lowest advancing team with 126.70 (3447th overall)

Good luck in week 8!
I forgot how harsh the cut lines were even this early. Only week 7 and 31 of us left.

Sort of like my chances in Week 8 since the only injury bug to really hit me is Rice. Probably means I'll miss the cut.

When Jayden went down I thought I was done because my only other QB is Caleb on bye. But the rest of my team smashed so even if Jayden had given me 0 instead of ~5pts I still would have comfortably advanced.

I totally planned on Bucky Irving and Will Reichard being two of my most important players.

Actually did draft Reichard in every league. Dude is a stud kicker. (Don’t let me down now!)

There are three teams in the contest that I'm currently fascinated by (apologies if this has been discussed before):
BayouBully (#110087), 22-man roster, $230 spent.
Entry #108330, 19-man roster, $236 spent.
Entry #100057, 18-man roster, $238 spent.

These three teams are easily under the roster limit and could have added several more players to their teams. And yet they didn't. And yet they're still alive.

(Shout out here to Future Champs (#111623), who spent $181 on an 18-man roster, the only roster that cost under $200. This team made it through the first 4 weeks, but hasn't sniffed the cutline since).

I always wonder about the folks who spent exactly $200 (this year, it was Entry #104881 and Entry #110275, both eliminated in week 1). Did they misread the rules?

Overall, there are 162 rosters that could have added an extra player (they had money and roster slots available)...and just didn't. Of these teams, 41 are still alive, for a 25.3% survival rate, well below the contest average.

On the other hand, at least they didn't take Christian McCaffrey! Oh wait, seven of them did. They're all dead.

Tampa Bay lost Mike Evans due to a hamstring injury and Godwin, who will most likely be out for the remainder of the season.

Mike Evans - 53 entries still alive
Chris Godwin - 207 entries still alive
Both players - 3 teams still alive.

Entry 107265 - Last remaining WR is Stefon Diggs (Had Evans and Godwin as well)
AmazinNation - Started with 4 WR, Evans, Godwin, Collins and Cooper.
I have McMillian (TB WR) who has done nothing…only player (along with Taysum Hill) that has not been used on my team,

so bad news for the other owners but hoping for some production (especially since Williams is suspended two games) from McMillian on my team!

Eep! My team has been performing admirably, and it looks decent enough with Kupp back next week, but this one had me clenching. I've never made it past week 2 or 3 before, no matter how many pages of strategy I read lurk here, so this is truly uncharted territory for me.

TOTAL127.00
CUT LINE125.65
Just think, you would've been booted this past week if you had to use Goff or Stafford over Maye.

I'm out. 113.60 this week, 12.05 under the cut.

This was my heaviest bye week by roster $, with $73 on bye (Lamb, Odunze, Caleb Williams, Dowdle), so it was going to be a risk.

I was especially thin at WR with those 2 WR byes plus Rashee Rice on IR. Throw in a couple zeroes from 2 active players (Polk & Iosivas, who both played over half their team's snaps) and that brought my 8-player WR corps down to 3 guys with positive points.

My 3 highest-priced active players all had middling games in my lineup, Mahomes, Nabers, and Achane. If I was going to pick 1 player to blame my demise on it'd be Mahomes - I paid up big for him and he has been meh all year. This week was his worst of the season, but none of his games have been big enough to put me over this week's cut line; 3 of Caleb Williams's have been.

Also helping to sink me was a bad week at PK/D. I had 7 total kickers + defenses, all playing this week, and none of them scored more than 6 points. This was my lowest scoring week at each position, and their 10 combined points was 13.3 less than what my PK+D averaged weeks 1-6 (which would've been just enough to squeak past the cut line).

I did get good games this week from Kittle, Pitts, Bucky Irving, and Justice Hill, but none of them had the kind of huge game that can put the team on your back and advance. So the TE strength plus the cheap RBs were nice but not enough to survive to week 8.

Previous posts on my squad here and here.

QB
Williams, Stafford, and Fields

Caleb now rounding into form, past his bye week, feeling good. Stafford I'd feel better getting Kupp and Nacua back, but Kupp trade noise a concern. Fields could always get his job back...who knows.

RB
Breece, Javonte, Jaylen Wright, Ray Davis, T. Tracy, Perine, Laube

Breece looking good. Javonte not gonna trust until he does it again a few times. Tracy has been a nice bump, and Davis had his one week that helped, but Wright, Perine, and Laube have been dead weight, albeit at only a $14 total cost

WR
McLaurin, Nabers, Rashee Rice, Brian Thomas, Odunze, L. McCaffrey, Jalen McMillan, Iosivas

top 3 are carrying me (excluding Rice, of course) Odunze might get better if Caleb gets any time to throw downfield. Not too excited about McMillan even with TB injuries, as he's looked bad so far. McCaffrey is meh. Iosivas is who we thought he was.

TE

Likely,Taysom,Sinnott, Theo Johnson, Parkinson

all unimpressive, but each has counted for me, and Likely can always blow up even with the Andrews resurgence

3 K and 3 Def as always

Overall, the large roster might get me to the playoffs, but with the shared common players, not enough firepower to make any noise

10 QB Geno Smith - $12
12 QB Derek Carr - $11
6 QB Sam Darnold - $9

5 RB David Montgomery - $19
6 RB Raheem Mostert - $16
12 RB Chase Brown - $13
14 RB Brian Robinson Jr. - $13
10 RB Jerome Ford - $11
6 RB Samaje Perine - $5

11 WR DJ Moore - $22
14 WR Courtland Sutton - $13
6 WR Xavier Worthy - $13
5 WR Jameson Williams - $10
14 WR Keon Coleman - $10
10 WR Romeo Doubs - $10
10 WR Dontayvion Wicks - $8

9 TE George Kittle - $15
10 TE David Njoku - $14
12 TE Tyler Conklin - $10
6 TE Colby Parkinson - $3

5 PK Cameron Dicker - $4
6 PK Will Reichard - $3

12 TD Atlanta Falcons - $3
10 TD Green Bay Packers - $3

No idea what to think of this roster, as I'm pretty sure I've never made it this far. Everyone except for Mostert and Perine have scored/counted for me. So far, no real close calls.... The closest I've been to being eliminated was Week 2 (148... Cut line 121). I've cleared it by 40+ in 5 of the 6 other weeks, with Week 6 being "only" 33. Week 10 may be tough sledding, with Geno, Ford, Wicks/Doubs, Njoku, and GB Def on bye (by far my heaviest bye week). A few thoughts/observations....

QB - It's definitely been QB by committee with Carr counting the first two weeks, Darnold the next two, and Geno the last three. Week 6 was a little sketchy with no Carr, Darnold on bye, and Geno only getting 16.6, but the rest of the roster did the heavy lifting. Would be nice to get Carr back sooner than later.

RB - As mentioned, only four of the six have counted, with Monty and BRob counting in every week that they've played. Glad to have half of the byes behind me, with none of the remaining three on common weeks. Just crossing my fingers that this group can stay relatively healthy enough to get two decent scores per week.

WR - Epitome of a team effort. They've all counted at least twice (Sutton twice, everyone else 3 or more times), and they've all had at least two weeks where they didn't count, which is interesting. No true studs (other than maybe Moore?), but even he is best suited for this best ball format. The group has only missed one game (knock on wood) due to injury (Dobbs-Week 5), which feels like a miracle this year. About to lose Jameson for two weeks, which sucks, but the good news is no WR byes in Weeks 8-9, and I'll hopefully get him back right before Wicks/Doubs' bye in Week 10. Just as with the RB group, I'm just hoping they can stay healthy.

TE - Solid. All four have counted at least twice, and I've gotten five flex scores from this group (including two in Week 5). About to enter the tough part of the TE schedule, though, with Kittle (Wk 9) and Njoku (Wk 10) having byes upcoming.

PK - These two have been studs, averaging about 14PPG from the scores that have counted each week. Both byes behind me. Last week I was wishing my 2nd PK could have counted as a flex score, as both kickers outscored four of my other scores that counted.

DEF - GB is carrying this group. ATL has only counted once (17 pts in Week 4), with 4 pts or less every other week. Kicking myself that I didn't stick with my original plan of GB and MIN.

Again, not sure I've been this far, so no idea what to think/expect. Doesn't feel like this team has the stud fire power to make it too far, but I could be wrong. So far, they've been very consistent, but not spectacular. Low week was 148, high week was 186, and the other five all fell between 160-172. Will be interesting to see how things go from here.

As much as I put my team down, I only have 1 long-term injury on the list with Rashee Rice.

I guess I just don't have faith in Richardson carrying my team thru the Geno Smith Wk 10 bye.

CUT LINE125.65

Furthest I've ever made it in this contest. I was lucky in choices at QB and Henry has been a lifesaver. We'll see if I survive Week 8 with the Metcalf injury.

Thanks for pointing out the Bryce Young issue!

Good news: this didn't affect the cut line. Four other teams were in the same situation.

Also, it appears that the score was being computed accurately on the standings page (and, importantly, in the script that determines the cut line). As of right now, LXB Titans team page shows a score of 127.90, but on the standings page, it shows the correct 128.10. I will fix the team page so we don't have this issue going forward. Thanks again!

After looking at some survival data, I noticed something interesting. If you look at the 30 most expensive players in the contest, only 3 have an above average survival rate. While quite a few names can be chalked up to injury (CMC, Puka, Kupp, etc). Even guys who “hit”, like Justin Jefferson, have a lower survival rate than the average (currently 30%).

Is this unique to this year? Or is this something you have seen consistently in the contest? I included the 30 most expensive players below. Players who have not missed significant time are sorted by survival rate. Players who have missed multiple games appear at the end, beginning with Travis Etienne.

This is always going to be the case. Expensive players are rostered on smaller entries, and smaller entries survive at a worse rate than larger entries.

Stafford's 36.55 points is my season high at QB. Nice little cushion to get the week started!!!

Agreed. It's so nice to get a head start on the week with a good score on Thursday night. And it could not have come at a better time with Jameson Williams out for suspension, and so many other players banged up and questionable. When I rostered Stafford, I did so thinking he was a good value considering the top shelf receivers he has. Then that all went up on smoke when Puka and Kupp got injured in the same week. Glad to see them back, because even though I don't have either of them on my roster, they should give Stafford a chance to count most weeks.

This week starts with 3502, but 1050 more will be cut. Here are the players on 225+ teams that will be OUT, or at least questionable:

1553 - WR Rashee Rice - Still on IR
1058 - RB Kenneth Walker - Questionable, limited practice on Thursday
942 - RB Jerome Ford - Questionable, did not practice Wednesday or Thursday and missed week 7 - downgraded to OUT
909 - TE George Kittle - Questionable, limited practice on Thursday
799 - QB Jayden Daniels - Most recent news is he's a game time decision
687 - WR Jameson Williams - Suspended for weeks 8 & 9, will not appeal
623 - RB Bucky Irving - Questionable, practiced today, HC Bowles said he would play if no setbacks
421 - WR Diontae Johnson - OUT, will miss week 8 with rib injury
404 - WR DK Metcalf - Questionable, did not practice Wednesday or Thursday
393 - WR Nico Collins - Still on IR
338 - TE Dalton Kincaid - Questionable, limited practices on Wednesday and Thursday
320 - WR Christian Watson - Questionable, limited practices on Wednesday and Thursday
301 - WR Calvin Ridley - Questionable, did not practice Wednesday or Thursday
298 - WR Ja'Lynn Polk - Questionable, did not practice Wednesday or Thursday
281 - PK Matt Prater - Still on IR
278 - WR Ladd McConkey - Questionable, did not practice Wednesday or Thursday
253 - WR Jaylen Waddle - Questionable, limited practices on Wednesday and Thursday
249 - RB Isiah Pacheco - Still on IR
225 - RB Alvin Kamara - Questionable, limited practices on Wednesday and Thursday

Yeesh only 6 guys on that list for me and that doesn't include CMC. Though Bucky is supposed to play so I guess it is more like 5

18-20 player groupthink team for week 8

QB
Patrick Mahomes at LV
Caleb Williams at WAS
Believe it or not, this team has used Mahomes more than Williams. FWIW, I think this duo is going to become a strength in the back half of the season.

RB
Josh Jacobs at JAC
James Conner at MIA
Javonte Williams vs CAR
JK Dobbins vs NO
Justice Hill at CLE
Used all at least twice, and I think flex scores are coming from this group this week. All 5 seem to be healthy for week 8, and matchups are very good.

WR
CeeDee Lamb at SF
Malik Nabers at PIT
Keon Coleman at SEA
Limited options against tough pass defenses. Will be happy just to get 2 usable scores.

TE
George Kittle vs DAL
Brock Bowers vs KC
Taysom Hill at LAC
Should be the first time with all 3 options since week 4. KC has given up the most points to TE's thus far.

PK
Cameron Dicker vs NO
Cam Little vs GB
Will Reichard already has 8.5 points, so off to a decent start.

TD
Green Bay Packers at JAC
Los Angeles Chargers vs NO
On paper, these should be 2 great options this week.

PK Joshua Karty - $34.00
TD Green Bay Packers - $30.00
TD Los Angeles Chargers - $30.00
TOTAL42.85

Off to a solid start with Stafford.

Ford looks like a waste now. Williams, Walker, and Robinson should put up tow decent scores.

At WR missing Jameson, Rice, and Watson. It's actually been bleaker than that in other weeks.

If Kittle plays it will be good to have all the TEs back. Will need a flex score here.

Best thing about this team is that if a lot of these guys underperform, a dropping tides sinks all ships.

Plato’s Cave reading the shadows on the wall

Week 8

QB Jared Goff - $180.00
QB Jayden Daniels - $170.00
Goff sans Jamo hopefully has a great week with Jayden’s rib injury
RB De'Von Achane - $210.00
RB Kenneth Walker III - $200.00
RB Chase Brown - $130.00
RB J.K. Dobbins - $80.00
RB Rico Dowdle - $80.00
RB Khalil Herbert - $70.00
RB Samaje Perine - $50.00
Would be great if Walker can come out to play. This group has potential to drop some good scores.
WR Malik Nabers - $190.00
WR Rashee Rice - $130.00
WR Rome Odunze - $110.00
WR Jameson Williams - $100.00
WR Ja'Lynn Polk - $70.00
WR Andrei Iosivas - $50.00
WR Greg Dortch - $50.00
Jamo suspended hurts. Could come down to a sweat Monday night needing Nabers to go off on the Steelers.
TE Jake Ferguson - $170.00
TE Pat Freiermuth - $100.00
TE Isaiah Likely - $90.00
TE Taysom Hill - $80.00
Feeling Likely will be a hit this week. Freiermuth and Nabers are welcome to bring their A game in Prime Time.
PK Cameron Dicker - $40.00
PK Joshua Karty - $34.00
PK Graham Gano - $30.00
Bar is low here after Thursday night
TD Green Bay Packers - $30.00
TD Los Angeles Rams - $33.00
TD Los Angeles Chargers - $30.00
Could see a decent score from the Pack or Bolts. D production has been solid from this trio.

CUT LINE-0.00

After Stafford' huge game, I have the estimated cutline at 135. My scrappy team is looking to land closer to 130. After barely scraping by last week with a meaningless TD from Najee and a fluky TD from Greg Dortch, it will take similar miracles to give me the privilege of sweating The Turk again next week.

GL to all in first 30% cut of the season.

PS: If you find your team is doing so well that you aren't getting the thrill of sweating The Turk. I gift to you MG345, who after three weeks had the highest combined score in the contest. Easily clearing 200 points each week. Then in week 4, Turk was picking him out of his tire treads.

I'll be lucky to survive this week...Here is my WR lineup:

Collins - IR
Metcalf - Doubtful
Godwin - IR
Jamo - Suspended
Jennings - Out

Losivas - Active
Tucker - Active
