2024 Summer of Soccer - Euro's, Copa America, Olympics, WCQing (1 Viewer)

And I liked how the Ven GK was allowed to manhandle the CAn player on the sidelines. Rules and reffing are neat.
It's so frustrating how much of a story the bad referees are in each game I watch.

everything about this tournament is bush league compared to the Euros
I know you want to keep bashing this tournament for what ever reason but the reffing has been just as bad in the Euro's.

I have been harsh on this tourney. Think it started with the ticket pricing and just snowballed from there being capped off by the horrible officiating in the last US match. I'm enjoying this one though
You didn't hit up the match at NRG last night?

Soccer is full of crazy stuff that makes no sense at times. It can be frustrating unless you lean into and just look at it as extra entertainment and talking points.

I wanted to see Messi but nosebleed seats starting at $310 seemed a bit rich. Decent seats in low four figures :poop:

I can't even imagine what the WC prices will be....

It occurred to me that Canada basically never crosses from the wing. It's all diagonal balls through the middle, trying to quickly get the ball on the feet of their forwards. Something I rarely see the US do.

That sucks. Messi is a huge draw but tickets overall are ridiculous for this tournament.

How about the smaller than regular sized pitches? I think these are U13 pitch sizes.

Canada was better on the night. They should have had 3 or 4.

How can the US have so little of "it" while Canada has it in spades?
Canada has two elite players and then a bunch of grit and grinders around them.

The team is mostly MLS based but they play better as a team than as individuals. Almost the exact opposite of the US

The only thing I don’t like about the Copa bracket is rematches before the final. I get it - they didn’t want Arg-Bra before the final under any circumstances. But still, repeat matches kind of stink
I am still leaning for an Argentina Colombia final right now.

And from what we have seen of this tournament, the Colombians have a significantly larger following at the games than Brazil does. In fact I think they (along with Argentina) have the largest support at the games on either side of the Atlantic (not including Germany).

We AFCON fans patting you COMNEBOL boys ion the head. “Look at you trying to be eccentric.”

Good for Canada and glad someone from CONCACAF making a run. There team had been a mess (much more than US) and the switch to March is doing so much for them. Wish we had made that change when we had the chance.

England have switched things up for today - moving to 3 at the back, and moving Saka to LWB.

I think they have bigger worries in the midfield where they have struggled this tournament - but they have a team capable of winning the whole thing.

Let's pray it's not a France v. England final.

Yeah, there's a Hundred Years War joke in there somewhere.

I let out a little shout, and my wife asked who scored. I told her “nobody, but I was excited when a patch of the wall dried into a lovely shade of grey!”

Netherlands v Turkeyeay now deemed a "high risk" game by German security. Back when I lived in Germany decades ago I was told Berlin had the second-highest Turkish population in the world behind Istanbul.

England had another 45 minutes with out a shot on goal and also prevented their opponent from any shots on goal.

Jesus this is horrendous.

I don't think England was banking on the Swiss scoring late like this. They went through the defense there like a knife cutting through cheese.
