Needed to be lower or higher - where he put it is in the keeper's sweet spot in terms of height. Lower, and the keeper struggles to get down, and higher, and keeper can't reach it - but that knee high level and the keeper just has to guess the right direction - and Oblak was going that way before Ronaldo even hit the ball.

Almost exactly what I said here, especially against the better keepers. Get the ball in the top corner.

Belt high is a recipe for a save, esp against a top keeper like Oblak. Still have to guess the right way though!

That was absolutely smoked and one of the best GKs in the last decade barely pushed it onto the post with a perfect guess. That's like a solid 8 on the PK-o-meter IMO and just a great save IMO.
