no you don'tYeah, a dedicated politics forum seems like a big QoL improvement. I do love a good pointless argument from time to time, though...

you're three hours ahead of me and still too slowSunnava.. eephus.
Pretty much 1) Music 2) Films 3) Arguing with anti-vaxxers makes up my FFA profile. With an occasional cocktail or expensive watch recommendation thrown in.Soccer, music and film/tv for me.
I liked this one too. It's very easy to listen to but the vocals are just weird enough to make things interesting.Say Sue Me - Where We Were Together -- these guys are from South Korea, I can't understand a lot of what the singer is saying but the guitar riffs are like a return to the womb for me, just steeped in early 90s indie rock. Really like this sound, solid album.
Yeah, as much as I love Yo La Tengo, I think it's more engaging to hear a new take on their sound than it has been to listen to any of their last half-dozen records.I liked this one too. It's very easy to listen to but the vocals are just weird enough to make things interesting.
I mentioned it up thread... Good ylt, but a bit too down beat for me.Yeah, as much as I love Yo La Tengo, I think it's more engaging to hear a new take on their sound than it has been to listen to any of their last half-dozen records.
But speaking of YLT, anyone like their new LP? I haven't checked it out yet.
Sounds like someone doesn't really want to Make America Great Again, eh.I can relate to this. I'm much more of a hit and run FFA guy these days. I read and participate in all the music and music draft threads and the hockey thread and that's really about it.
I post way more in the baseball forum than I do here and I try to avoid the political forum at all costs...
For me it's less about time spent/addictiveness and more just having no interest in all the pointless arguments.
And just like that, there's a new Gang of Four ep w a pic of Ivanka on the cover.... It's like everything's converging. Or everything that rises must converge...except that's Shriekback.Awesome! Yes, a strong Au Pairs heritage there, maybe a little Gang of Four for good measure. Their two previous albums are really good as well. Can't get enough Shopping, personally, they're maybe my favourite new band from the last few years. There's also a side project from one of the members called Sacred Paws that is quite different but also really good. Hooky guitar driven girly pop? I don't know how to describe things![]()
I want to like this but... Yeesh. Let your legacy rest in peace, guys. And just like that, there's a new Gang of Four ep w a pic of Ivanka on the cover.... It's like everything's converging. Or everything that rises must converge...except that's Shriekback.
Hey GB! Happy 4/20 to you too. How's life?New Sleep. Happy 4/20.
re: hop along - was disappointed. too mellowI have to give it another listen. I thought it started off good, but trailed off a bit.
Fiddles!! I gotta check out the Superchunk for sure. New Melvins supposed to drop today?was disappointed. too mellow

That superchunk is about as good as anything they've done. Gbv at this point all blurs for me.re: hop along - was disappointed. too mellow

Btw, no collaborations... Just him playing piano, apparently inspired from a radio/web masterclasses he does where he deconstructs pop tunes...it's a good watch.Huh... My man Chilly Gonzalez appears to have released an album of reimagined/covered tunes in collaboration with the original artists, including... Daft punk, Weezer, Drake, Robbie Fitzsimmons, Lana drl Rey, beach house, krs1 and others.
Diving in now...guessing it's going to be very grandiose piano-ey.
Never mind, y'all. I got it. Found a nice album leaks site too if anyone is interested.New Father John Misty apparently leaked the other day -- Apple Music accidentally put up the album for 30 minutes. I quite enjoyed his last one, though I imagine he's probably polarizing around here. I'm scouring the innerwebs for a download. Anyone have a good source for this kind of stuff?![]()
I think I have heard two songs from it so far... I liked the both, flat out loved the first one I heard (Mr. Tillman)New Father John Misty apparently leaked the other day -- Apple Music accidentally put up the album for 30 minutes. Just relistened to space gun. I like gbv, but couldn't tell you if this is new stuff or rereleases. That's true of most of their albums for me... I like, but don't hear any of the grabbers that albums during Bees era had.gbv all blurred for me for the past 20 years but for some reason the newest album - space gun and how do you spell heaven (2017) are both front to back amazing albums
give em a try
After further listening, it's more like Helmet-y Helmet-y goodness.i know what im listening to at the gym today. thx
I took a picture of the poster when it first popped up a few months ago... with the idea of posting it in here, but forgot- everythimg about this...so goofy. Not sure I'm even going to bother listening tbh...shaggyThe Sting & Shaggy collaboration is about as inconsequential as you'd expect. I wouldn't say it's all bad; Sting can still write a melody and Shaggy's growling raggamuffin raps are kind of fun. But it sounds like cruise ship music. You can find a lot better reggae for your 4/20 listening purposes.
Thank you!!! I've been trying to remember the name of this album/artist for over a year.I've got 4 that I've worn out and like the best so far. Still working others in. Some releases coming that I'm looking forward to like Parquet Courts and Malkmus
Hookworms: Microshift
No Age: Snares Like A Haircut
Ty Segall: Freedoms Goblin
Salad Boys: This Is Glue
Been in a retro mood lately and listening to Royal Trux; Cats and Dogs, Double Dagger: More and The Poster Children: Daisychain Reaction. All still sound really good to me.

Ooh, will check this out. I've enjoyed Part in the past. My interest in modern classical only gets deeper as I get older. So far this year my favourite is probably the Kronos Quartet/Laurie Anderson collaboration. Any further recs in this vein are more than welcome.Classical album of the year so far is Arvo Pärt: The Symphonies. This is a terrific collection of the Estonian composer's four symphonies dating from 1963 to 2009 performed by the Wroclaw Philharmonic under fellow Estonian Tõnu Kaljuste. Part's music is more atmospheric than virtuosic; Kaljuste and a pristine ECM production capture this better than the other recordings I've listened to.
Part is about as accessible as modern music gets. He's also pretty concise. All four symphonies combined clock in 79 minutes which is shorter than one of Mahler's. I'd recommend listening to them 4,3,2,1 since parts of the First are the most difficult. I'd never heard Part's Third before which is the highlight for me.
fwiw, I mentioned upthread that Steve Reich has a new album out for "drumming" instruments, as well as a collaboration with some other outfit doing pulse stuff. don't feel either hit any heights or new ground, but both good, typical steve reich.Ooh, will check this out. Your face is a bandwagon.never got on this bandwagon and if this song is any representation of their catalog I feel justified
Yeah, that's pretty terrible.never got on this bandwagon and if this song is any representation of their catalog I feel justified
