ah. I use spotify almost exclusively. their two floppo-algorithm playlists every week start me out (release radar, discover weekly), and when I have a little energy midweek I open up "browse/discover" for bands and albums that are similar to bands and albums spotify knows I like. find a lot of stuff that way.

but the glasvegas turned up on last week's release radar (and again today).

I never saw it, I have them on a couple playlists, including my active chrimmus one.  Spotify you got some splaining to do!

I like em too.  Have a link that says more on what/when these demos are from?  They sound pretty all over the place but mostly good

honestly- @JZilla- if you're not (or anybody else that cares about music) using spotify, you really should. has a ton of old stuff I used to love listening to- but mostly, now that we're buddies and the algorithms are tuned up, it hooks me up with brand new stuff that I love and would never ever find otherwise.

was having this conversation with a french friend over the weekend- only downside is if spotify goes *poof*. all my music is gone. "my" music that I never paid for. but all the playlists with all the bands- most of whom I never remember the names of.

West Chester, PA.. suburbia.. it wasn't too obnoxious for this, but the setup was ####ty and the show started early, had to be over at 10, so we barely made it.  The band was great, anyway..

Has anyone else listened to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (Soundtrack From & Inspired by the Motion Picture)?

I need to know whether this is a legitimately great album or if I'm just an overzealous fan of the film?  Cause I CAN NOT stop listening to it.  I haven't enjoyed a movie soundtrack this much since "Scott Pilgrim vs the World".  Expect to see it on my EOY list.

I really liked painted shut but the new one was disappointing.  Need to give it another chance.

Wide Awake is growing on me more and more after a year. Still think it's kinda uneven and has a couple of stinkers, but Almost Had to Start a Fight/In and Out of Patience>Freebird2 is one of my favorite things Parquet Courts has ever done.

I think I read that was going to happen and you were angling to be the chaperone, didn't hear how it went.  Did you get to go?

ok... not that you asked for it, but you asked for it. link to a brief review- scrolling down in the article is a link to the video I took. the muppet screaming for them wasn't me as far as you know.

the show was a blast, and fortunately was pretty amateur summer fun loving crowd. mom went backstage with the kids (outside, with no view of the stage). when I heard they weren't going to be able to see the band, I volunteered to set up in front on the side where I knew they'd be singing. due to the crowd, I started to the side and back a bit, but the second the first song started, a little mosh-pit opened up front and center. people in front of me either bailed to join or avoid the mosh-pit, leaving a clear path to the railing in front of the stage, where I took the video. show was fun, right at sunset on a gorgeous early summer NYC night. and I was amped for the kids. unfortunately, there was one mic and the kids right in front of it weren't exactly tip-top singers. the biggest cheer of the night from the crowd was for the kids though- very cool.

floppinho had a blast. when I asked him if he was nervous- he said no, and that he wishes he could be singing/drumming/performing in front of a crowd like that every time he performs. he got a free t-shirt (the one they wore on stage).

I don't think I mentioned this elsewhere- but the School of Rock, Bob, told me later that Austin was so gob-struck by the cheer at the first kids moment, he completely lost his timing/way for singing the next verse.
