It was a tremendous raid. (3 Viewers)

His entire adult life has been about exploiting this country. Hating or loving it has no meaning to him beyond how saying it helps his exploitation efforts.

I vividly remember Trump's face as he warmly embraced the American flag in a hug that would make Melania's skin crawl. He clearly loves America.

so her decision is so crummy maybe that is because she honestly has no idea what she is doing versus being nefarious and that is pretty scary itself though take that to the bank brohans

The ABA rates judicial nominees as Well Qualified, Qualified, or Unqualified. I remember this Trump nominee embarrassed himself at his confirmation hearing by admitting that he had never tried a case or taken a depo, and did not know what a motion in limine (motion to suppress evidence) was. He was rated "Qualified" by the ABA. Though I note he had the class to withdraw after this debacle. Cannon was actually rated "Unqualified," which she most certainly is.

the judge looks really dumb right now from what I u derstand take that to the bank brohans

just wow...
This may partially wxplian
Do judges get any outside help when making decisions, especially important ones like this? Do they have a legal staff?

They have clerks that will be assisting in researching past decisions/rulings/even opposing opinions with which to narrow down their own opinion

I haven’t read the order, but I generally agree with the ruling.
I’m curious why

Again, I haven’t read the opinion and thus cannot speak to the soundness of the judge’s reasoning. And when I posted this, I was only aware of the appointment of the special master, I was not aware that the investigation itself had been enjoined (I don’t agree with that at all). But on the privilege review, provided a special master can be appointed quickly and the review conducted expeditiously, I’m generally supportive of that process, particularly where, as here, there is some claim that the search warrant was politically motivated. Appointing a special master ensures that the FBI investigators do not access privileged (attorney-client) materials to which they should not have access, and it removes an argument that Trump could make to undermine the results of the investigation. But as to whether the court had jurisdiction, or the ruling was supported by the law, I don’t have an informed opinion (though the most recent links are pretty alarming).

An ABA "unqualified" rating is pretty rare. She was magna cum laude and Order of the Coif from Michigan Law which is impressive, but she's not really done any of the things you expect to see a federal judge doing between graduation and her appointment. No real litigation experience, no writing or speaking and obviously no experience on the bench, although she did have a one year clerkship for a federal judge which helps. I'm all in favor of bringing non-traditional lawyers into the judiciary if they're smart, which she seems to be. This decision is really a train wreck though - so many fundamental errors as to the law, the process, jurisdiction - things that most federal judges typically take very seriously.

WHOA! Trump filed a baseless lawsuit v. Hillary Clinton, ex-FBI Agent Peter Strzok et al in Florida. Back in April, Trump tried to get the assigned judge kicked off the case. The judge said no & basically accused Trump of judge-shopping. For what judge? Yup, Aileen Cannon /1

I’m sure it has been surmised upon somewhere within this thread, but how did all of these classified/top secret documents even come into his possession?

Hard to believe the FBI wouldn't already be aware of this.
Much like when everyone was complaining that Garland wasn’t doing anything in the J6 investigation, I think we’ll find later that they are much deeper in this investigation. I’d be shocked if they weren’t at least monitoring his travel since they got the hint that he still has this classified information.

I also don’t think it will be a coincidence that the search happened shortly after Trump had the LIV tournament in NJ. What I didn’t realize was that the final stop of the tournament is at Trump’s course in Miami in late October. If they had intelligence that he intended to transfer what he had at MAL in October, that would be a great reason for the August search to recover what they could find.

I’ve mentioned this too. He reportedly requested to take documents back to the residence to read. But when it comes to the most classified documents, I have a hard time believing they let him take them and never tried to get them back. I think he had help especially during the lame duck period when he started putting people like Kash Patel into new positions.

Better check Bedminster…

On May 6, NARA emails Trump to say material is missing and may be at MAL. https://washingtonpost.com/national-security/2022/08/30/mar-a-lago-timeline-trump-documents/…

On May 9, Trump gets on a private plane from Palm Beach to Bedminster. On video, several boxes (8)are seen loaded onto the plane.
For those who didn't click on the original thread, it's not just that eight boxes are seen loaded onto the plane. It's that the eight boxes are the exact style and brand of the boxes holding the classified cover pages as shown in the DOJ's brief.

It's a mass produced box available to anyone. I think that would be a good reason not to jump to any conclusions.

If it were almost anyone but Trump.

I haven’t really kept up, but it sounds like DJT keeps truthing that he declassified all the documents or the FBI planted evidence. But in court filings, they have not made either of those claims and instead have indicated the FBI / DOJ took personal documents that were mixed in with classified docs. Just like their earlier court cases where they never mentioned fraud, it once again sounds like there is one strategy for the masses and a different legal strategy for use in court.

Yup. Then they will claim that they were prevented from showing their proof of planted evidence or declassification by the deep state legal system that is just out to get Trump.

"The truth is out there, but the elites don't want you to see it. You have to trust us."

Of course he does...because he doesn't need to convince the courts. Just convince enough people to believe him.

Can't really fault him though right? This approach has been accepted if not encouraged by millions of people.

Trump flew into DC this afternoon without fanfare or previously announcing he was coming to the area today or tomorrow.

Gonna guess it’s for something unrelated to the Mar-A-Lago search warrant or January 6. Probably some fundraiser for something popular with conservatives but not the general public, like Congressional candidates who favor a nationwide total abortion ban or something like that.
But it is weird he quietly came into DC without alerting the press ahead of time that he would be there.

It’s even weirder than you describe. Trump apparently was golfing at the time and left directly from the course and traveled in his golfing attire including his cleats.

He probably heard they were opening a new McDonalds at the Capital mall and he wasn’t going to let Gym Jordan be first in line.

There were a number of people last night posting video of Trump at Dulles airport wearing what he had on at the golf course. It's at the end of the video.

In photos and video of Trump coming off the plane, he’s wearing a white polo and white shoes. Which turned up speculation, since he’s almost always wearing a suit when he travels.

There’s no reporting today of a courthouse or other official building preparing for the arrival of a former President, so the most likely explanation is his golf round yesterday ran long and he had to go straight to the plane afterwards. If he had a health emergency, his doctors wouldn’t have put him on a plane to Walter Reed from New Jersey. Midterm elections are less than 60 days away, so it wouldn’t be Garland’s style to indict Trump this week after not doing so at any time over the last several months.

There’s a gala in DC tomorrow night organized by a pro-life lobbying group celebrating the repeal of Roe v Wade. Trump is probably in town for that.

All I said is it was odd. IIRC, it was Trump's own plane. Prety sure they could have waited for him to take a few minutes to change before taking off. Like I said . . . it seemed odd. And it didn't seem like they were scrambling once they landed like he had to be someplace at a specified time or in a hurry.

Trump, who by all accounts is an avid golfer (like me), would never had not had a pair of shoes to change into (most of us carry a shoe bag and one would never intend to wear cleats on concrete like that because it could damage the cleat).

I can only assume that he god picked up on the 18th green or some such. Otherwise it takes, what, 5 seconds to change?
