What he showed today is why I think he is truly in the conversation with Messi and CRonaldo for best player in the world right now.

He isn't a guy that the entire team focusses on shutting out, yet. Maybe he should be, but right now, he isn't. He still finds sneaky openings (to his credit). Messi and Ronaldo are double to trill teamed every time they are near an opening. Especially Messi since he plays directly in the middle. Makes it much easier to collapse on him at every touch. I think that is way Ronaldo likes to line up on the sideline.

Agreed. Suarez is a classic finisher in the highest sense, but of what I have seen (maybe those that watch more can correct me) he isn't a creator. He doesn't control and set-up like the other guys do.

A Costa Rica win:

Clinches a spot in the knockout round for the Ticos and elimnates England in the process.

Italy and Uruguay would face off for the other spot in the knockout round (and the winner could still win the group with a win and a Ticos loss and they end up with superior goal differential).

1) If Italy loses by 1 to Costa Rica, Italy would advance with a tie vs Uruguay.

2) If Italy loses by 3 or more to Costa Rica, Italy would advance with a tie vs Uruguay.

I agree with your greater point. I brought this up with my GF today. I feel very uncomfortable saying "You're a guay" and I feel weird hearing it. Yet, I feel slightly pretentious saying "Uw'er-guay". I just can't can't bring myself to mispronounce it to appease my audience. Although, at times, I do say "Gy-rose" instead of the "Heeros" when I knew I'm surrounded by a bunch of chets who don't understand the beauty of a ground lamb and pita sammich. And I always feel dirty about it.

I also like typing Brasil instead of Brazil when I feel the occasion calls for it.

ETA: and I always say Are Gen Tina when I'm speaking English. I never go Arhentina on anyone. But I still hate You're A Guay soooo much.

My gripe is that they have convinced FIFA to only refer to them in the French.A history/memory quiz. We're all used to seeing the three letter abbreviation for the different countries; CIV for Ivory Coast (see what I did), GER for Germany, ESP for Spain and so on. West Germany and East Germany ... who remembers how they used to be displayed?

East was something like GDR, right (I'm pretty sure there was an 'R' somewhere in their for Republic)? Never made any sense since we were all tought the East German's were communists

Correct. In German they were DDR and BRDSoviet Union? The first thing that comes to mind is USR (Union of Soviet Republics), but for some reason, maybe because FIFA and the IOC do things in French and stuff gets backward, it may have been URS.
