Why do people care what other people do with their hair?Or perhaps the same people that think a mohawk, long purple hair, mullets, or crusty hippie dreads are all pretty stupid think a fro is as well.
The police volunteer their time? I was unaware of that.So Kap should have the right to protest, but officers should be forced to VOLUNTEER and not have the right to do the same? Interesting take on rights you have there.
Pretty sure they volunteer for the extra work but do get paid by the team. The police volunteer their time? I was unaware of that.
Not being snarky, if none of those cops are getting paid, whatever they wanna do is up to them.
Yeah, this sounds right.do get paid
It's a scamYeah, this sounds right.
I know a lot of cops, never known them to volunteer cop time.
Moonlighting?It's a scam
It's in the article. They volunteer and are paid as security guards, not police. But apparently their volunteerism should be forced on them because they are just cops and don't have the same right as downtrodden NFL QBs.The police volunteer their time? I was unaware of that.

I did several mortgages for Santa Clara Countty and other Bay Area LEO's when I was living in the US. I would always shake my head as they were all making six figures easily. They would always explain that it was the OT, and all of them would say "It's a scam", almost like it was a running joke among them.Moonlighting?
Meh. I like that cops can make good money. Means we can have better ones.
Hey as long as you aren't being melodramatic. It's in the article. They volunteer and are paid as security guards, not police. But apparently their volunteerism should be forced on them because they are just cops and don't have the same right as downtrodden NFL QBs.
Yeah they are getting over, but I'm okay with this 'scam'. They aren't stealing anything.I did several mortgages for Santa Clara Countty and other Bay Area LEO's when I was living in the US. at "volunteerism." Like they're spending their day off at a soup kitchen or rebuilding houses post-Katrina.Right. But it's not an official assignment. So the governor isn't going to get involved, as you wanted him to do.Yeah, this sounds right.

Hottest of hot takes!proninja said:These poor cops, getting paid 60 bucks an hour to watch football while one player doesn't like the fact that black people are getting shot in the street.
Understood.Right. But it's not an official assignment. So the governor isn't going to get involved, as you wanted him to do.
Goodell, give me a call. I'm willing to volunteer on the sideline of the Super Bowl.at "volunteerism." Like they're spending their day off at a soup kitchen or rebuilding houses post-Katrina.
This has been my feeling all along.I can't believe people are still talking about this.
Some of us are talking about the people talking about this.I can't believe people are still talking about this.
Seems all we talk about here in CA is how much teachers unions suck, but cops scam the #### out of the system, get paid way more than teachers and get way better retirement/benefits.It always amazes me that police unions get a pass from the "unions suck" crowd.
So you are saying they should be forced to work on their days off?proninja said:These poor cops, getting paid 60 bucks an hour to watch football while one player doesn't like the fact that black people are getting shot in the street.

The guy who is "spokesperson" for our local fire department brought home $283,000 last year with overtime. He's a captain and I'm sure does more than just talk to the media but JFC.Seems all we talk about here in CA is how much teachers unions suck, but cops scam the #### out of the system, get paid way more than teachers and get way better retirement/benefits.
And don't you DARE criticize it publicly or you'll be branded as an anti-American traitor. The guy who is "spokesperson" for our local fire department brought home $283,000 last year with overtime. He's a captain and I'm sure does more than just talk to the media but JFC.
I guess I dont get the joke? Some irrelevant football player decides not to stand during the national anthem, say some dumb things, and wear some dumb socks. This makes some people upset and they decide they don't want to work their second job at the same location that this guy works at.
Bet he gets summers off too.The guy who is "spokesperson" for our local fire department brought home $283,000 last year with overtime. He's a captain and I'm sure does more than just talk to the media but JFC.
ETA:. For $280k in this area you can buy a 4 bedroom, 2200sqft house in a great neighborhood.
No kidding. Hey, I'm all for paying our cops and firefighters a better than decent wage but get real. This guy is making almost 4 times than a teacher with the same time on the job.And don't you DARE criticize it publicly or you'll be branded as an anti-American traitor.
Thats a pretty sweet gig. Does he have a PR background or was he just a firefighter that came up through the ranks? The guy who is "spokesperson" for our local fire department brought home $283,000 last year with overtime. He's a captain and I'm sure does more than just talk to the media but JFC.

Why you gotta be dogging Willie , he's a sensitive guysquistion said:Yes, they should instead be talking about really important stuff, like Willie's Band Names.
That was actually my only point. People crawling all over themselves to support Kap, then want to bag all over the cops for doing the exact same thing. It is simply mind-boggling to me.But yes, I support their right to protest in whatever stupid manner they see fit.
Dudes with pony tails or the now in style man bun....ridiculousyou know what bugs me, white guys with chick hair. the 80s are over, man. Poison destroyed feminine hairdo's. let it go guys. let it go.
I have to say that I don't like Colin's afro. I like fros on a lot of people, but his head is too little to have the big fro going on. It swallows his face.Dudes with pony tails or the now in style man bun....ridiculousyou know what bugs me, white guys with chick hair. the 80s are over, man. We aren't talking about standards or what they do while on duty. We're talking about volunteering to work on their off hours. How you feel about how their response looks is totally irrelevant as to whether it is their RIGHT to do it. Once again, Kap has the right to sit. And these guys have the right to not volunteer for the games. How you can support one but not the other just totally boggles my mind. If indeed you do fully support Kap's stance that is.proninja said:I think it's fair to hold cops to a higher standard than the rest of us. They get to carry guns and enforce our laws, I find that extremely fair. Also, I think the appearance that the cops are only willing to work for certain people who act a certain way isn't a good look. We need our LE to enforce laws as emotionless as possible, and if anything their response does far more to legitimize Kap's protest than it does to harm it.
Admit it, you were all just shooting at the black guy encroaching on your property line weren't you?yeterday my buddies came over and before i let them have a beer we lined up and did a 21 gun salute and sang the battle hymn of the republic it was pretty great take that to the bank bromigos
uh no thats just wrong bromigo that is not how swc rolls take that to the bankAdmit it, you were all just shooting at the black guy encroaching on your property line weren't you?yeterday my buddies came over and before i let them have a beer we lined up and did a 21 gun salute and sang the battle hymn of the republic it was pretty great take that to the bank bromigos

The word volunteer tends to suggest doing something absent compensation, financial or otherwise, out of the kindness of your heart. But correct, they are under no professional obligation to take a second job, although encouraging all the cops to pull out on a week's notice might be pretty lame. And independent of that, their position is lame. And I am sure a bunch of those cops like that gig and are actually annoyed that now there is peer pressure to show how super patriotic they are rather than getting paid to enjoy the action and hot chicks and good times of NFL opening day.In other words, volunteering.
No, it does not. It's merely one definition. We have an all-volunteer military. Does that "tend to suggest" they do it absent compensation? The word volunteer tends to suggest doing something absent compensation, financial or otherwise, out of the kindness of your heart.
