That's fair. I didn't mean that to say I thought Curb invented it, it was just the most "known" example to use. Or so I thought.lol.. yeah- they invented that.Mostly improv with just a shell "idea" of a scene.I don't know what "Curb your enthusiasm" style is.
Sure, if you didn't read any of our posts or understand our intent with this countdown. This is like the Bizarro world top 10.
None more black. It's like, how much more black could this be?

whatever you do, please don't watch the 90s remake instead, right @krista4 ??
That was the only reason for calling you in- I know you love the movie. Now you can go back to just scrolling the OP.whatever you do, please don't watch the 90s remake instead, right @krista4 ??
Don't call me into this thread!
I had to scroll around to see what you're talking about. Wow, so pleased to see my favorite movie so high on your lists!I knew others liked it (El Floppo shares this love with me), but I didn't expect it on this.

I doubt there will be too many complaints about our top 5 other than people upset about what missed the whole 100Let's do the top 5!! Hopefully we don't destroy too many childhoods in the process. Although I think our top picks in a couple genres lean a bit artsy fartsy, so that is fitting.
I watched School Daze a couple months ago. Does that count?Do the Right Thing is funny, stylish, beautifully filmed, full of great performances but also it's significant and powerful. It takes quite a movie to stir up critics like it did. 30 years later, it's as relevant as ever.
#6: DO THE RIGHT THING
@Ilov80s ' #1 pick and my #19. Again, since he outranked me on the movie I will let him do most of the talking here. Obviously I love the movie, but I have a couple nitpicks and I am still wrestling with the movie, so I couldn't justify it higher on my personal list.
So movies dont /age/ well.and one even commits rape by deception - but luckily the chick digs it.and the Nerds, do indeed get revenge!
I quoted the Dazed and Confused line "Thats why I like High School girls. I get older and they stay the same age". My genZ kids explained to me I was being sexist and it was creepy talking about HS girls. Once my wife jumped on the band wagon, I knew I had lost.
Sure- I know you are not at all a fan of Do the Right Thing- thought of you as we approached the top 25 and I knew this move was coming.I watched School Daze a couple months ago. 2 might test this theory, #5 maybe being one of them?I doubt there will be too many complaints about our top 5 other than people upset about what missed the whole 100Let's do the top 5!! What's the point of any post critiquing or agreeing with a pick?So the point of those posts are?Oh, I'm aware.Sure, if you didn't read any of our posts or understand our intent with this countdown. This is like the Bizarro world top 10.
No, you were critiquing the whole thing. If you understood where we were coming from and read our posts by now the top 10-20 shouldn't be "bizarro world". It would only be that if you were expecting 80s blockbuster movies and a lot of comedies. What's the point of any post critiquing or agreeing with a pick?So the point of those posts are?Oh, I'm aware.Sure, if you didn't read any of our posts or understand our intent with this countdown. This is like the Bizarro world top 10.
Again, I understand what the criteria for your lists are, but if they are going to deviate this much from what you would normally see on a top 10, you have to expect a certain amount of debate. My next 100 will have plenty of WTF picks, and I fully expect to be called out on them.
I'm flattered! I don't know how I feel about the movie - I don't know if I've ever watched it all, just parts. It's more my aversion to Spike Lee.Sure- I know you are not at all a fan of Do the Right Thing- thought of you as we approached the top 25 and I knew this move was coming.I watched School Daze a couple months ago. I thought somebody flat out hated the movie around here. For some reason I had either you or otb in mind.I'm flattered! It's one that I probably should give more of a fair chance, though.
I'm going to let the one major outlier go. You're all right @KarmaPolice .Is this to be an empathy test? Capillary dilation of the so-called blush response? Fluctuation of the pupil. Involuntary dilation of the iris...

I honestly think most will be A-ok with the top 5.I'm going to let the one major outlier go. You're all right @KarmaPolice .Is this to be an empathy test? Capillary dilation of the so-called blush response? Fluctuation of the pupil. Involuntary dilation of the iris...

I critiqued the 4 movies that had been revealed in the top 10. Keep in mind, I'm also half joking as I have been most of the thread, since I am aware of the criteria you are using. But still, the amount of movies missing from the list is staggering. I guess it was just a really good decade for movies.
I think Criterion has a 4K coming out. I will for sure be getting this next sale.#7: WINGS OF DESIRE [hbo max, criterion]
My #8, and 80s' #13. Another that has grown into one of my favorites in the past decade or so. Just a beautiful movie.
Correct - May 2nd.I think Criterion has a 4K coming out. I will for sure be getting this next sale.#7: WINGS OF DESIRE [hbo max, criterion]

Hmm. I gotta ask - are we still talking Raiders here, or one of your faves you are thinking are not going to be revealed?I'm going to let the one major outlier go. #5: BLADE RUNNER
80s' #6 pick, and my #12 pick. I probably don't need to talk too much about the movies in the top 5. I'd be interested if people have seen some of these though. I have always loved intelligent sci-fi and this one is near the top for that.
Ok! Now we’re talking!!!#5: BLADE RUNNER

I actually didn’t even think of it and should have. Great movie - one of the best NYC movies.Do the Right Thing is funny, stylish, beautifully filmed, full of great performances but also it's significant and powerful. It takes quite a movie to stir up critics like it did. 30 years later, it's as relevant as ever.

An all timer. Holds up well for a SciFi too. Just watched on HBO Max a few nights ago coincidentally. Makes my top 5 but not top 10. I'm assuming we have another Harrison Ford film coming up here.
No, not since breakfast.hair pie... not something you really hear any more.Absolutely **** belch. It was an unwise move deciding on the belching contest though. No athleticism needed whatsoever and Ogre was weak sauce at it.Very fair point. I'd guess the Greek counsel has a large say in what type of events are at said competition.
