Tush Push - Do the rules apply for this play or not? Doesn't seem like it (2 Viewers)

Cousins much squat more than Hurts because he doesn't need no pushey in the tushey.

They showed a stat during the game. I don't remember the exact numbers but it was something like 3 or 4th and 1 conversion percentage. It was something like

Philly 95%
Rest of league 82%

Justin Fields must squat 600 lbs to get that Tush Push 1st down mid 1st quarter.

Also, loved how the two officials each had the play marked vastly different (a yard+ difference). One was a 1st down, one had it short. 1st down!! 😴
Yeah...officials don't stand a chance with that mass of humanity around the ball.
How is it worse than any other typical short-yardage play? If there was no pushing, would it be any better?
Yes, it would be better without the pushing.
Cool, let's make it a penalty to push the ball carrier. All ball carriers.
only if it's also included you cant push from behind a defender on a gang tackle. I mean....how is it any different?! And it's done constantly (INCLUDING against the tush push)

2 seconds left in the half and Eagles run the Tush Push for a TD. Yeah baby!!!!

The NFL needs to figure out a way to expand this play. We need more of this.
So much better than a FG, innit?
Keep on trolling...
No, I posted an honest reply. I love it when the Eagles convert a 1st down or score touchdowns. I love them so much better than a punt, turnover on downs, or a FG. A troll job would be the post I replied to, that was nothing but sarcasm strictly designed to elicit a response.

The Chiefs game fake FG Tush Push was horrible. The officials couldn't tell when the play ended, a player had their helmet ripped off in the mass of bodies, and there was nothing to review because you couldn't see where the ball stopped or when the officials blew it dead.

Get rid of this crap.

If only Noah Gray could squat 700lbs

Because a team is bad at executing it, therefore it should be banned. Got it.

4th and goal from the 2.

No Tush Push, no score on the Eagles QB run. Despite the offensive line and QB squat prowess.

Maybe it's the play. ?? Edit: TD Eagles. Who needs the push!?!!! 😄

The Giants would have won their game last night if they just could execute this play correctly. No way in the world if the Eagles get the ball on the 1 with 0 seconds left and a TD to win, they DO NOT try this play.

Birds Ran the tush push at the goal line yesterday and Jalen fumbled. Lined up for it again later in the game and faked it, with Swift sweeping to the left, in for a TD. Great stuff.

Both of the Eagles guards had their helmets in the neutral zone for tonight's version of this monstrosity. No call.

So was the defense. Flag.

Get rid of this RUGBY play already.

I agree with my stepson, if they are going to continue to allow it they should allow the defense to line up over the center. They have that rule to protect the center, so allow that or get rid of allowing the tush push.

Isn't that rule only for kicks?

Yes, to protect the long snapper as he is usually not otherwise fit for the NFL.

The Eagles have a play tree out of the tush push that they'll start using if teams can design a counter to it.

Uh, the defense can already line up over the center as long as it's not a kicking play.

Also the long-snapper often has to have his head down, looking at the target, especially on punts - or at least I had to when I did it a million years ago. The long-snapper is essentially in a defenseless position as contrasted with the center on a normal play from scrimmage, who has his head up with eyes forward.

Was the forward pass even legal then?

No, but they did have leather helmets.

Wont matter if it goes away. Hurts would have converted all but one or two of those as traditional sneaks anyway.

But the REASONING for ditching it is terrible. It's no more risky then any other play, and less so then most. And we've now seen that, NO...NOT every team can run it successfully. Nobody can run it as well as Philly

Seems like a weird play for the NFL to get involved with. Isn't a bigger injury risk then any other play in my opinion. I wonder if they are looking at it because other teams can't run it as successfully as Eagles and it gives them a clear edge.
