In my defense, the entires for this group have skewed towards more players whereas the majority of entires are 18-19 players. There is a difference in the entires.

I don't want to criticize your business model Joe, as you've probably forgotten more about this biz than I know currently, but I can tell you anecdotally that when you guys made the switch to tiered pricing, where base-level subscibers don't have access to "elite" content, I was so disappointed that I vowed not to subscribe at all - and the ONLY thing that brought me back to the fold was this awesome contest. I suspect the subsciber contest isn't the real problem but what do I know. I spend most of my time on these boards and messing around with the contest, and I also check the rankings regularly and read any article that catches my attention, but it is a bummer when I can only read the beginning of an article.

All feedback is always welcome. No worries there.

There will always be folks that don't want to pay the price we charge for content. That's been a challenge from day 1 and I totally understand there. We're not for everyone.

We think we're by far an incredible value for what we offer and charge at all 3 tiers. But again, we're not for everyone.

What bums me though is the low participation in the contest. We have more premium subscribers than ever. This is another record year. So there are more people eligible with an entry into the contest than ever. But fewer than ever taking advantage of it.

Really odd.

Again, I know it's not this group as I know y'all love it.

You've got a great thing going here for sure, and it seems like if people were more aware, they'd be crazy not to join the subscriber contest, which provides so much endless fun and an incentive to do research on players well before the season kicks off. I feel like the contest might have been easier to find and was more heavily promoted on the home page in years past? Instead of a small banner up top on the home screen, maybe the contest needs its own half-page column "bubble" like the Rankings and Articles have currently? You could also try auto-enrolling people somehow - especially folks who subscribe after the contest kicks off, you could link them to the contest right at sign up after the purchase goes through? Might be a good reason to kick off the contest earlier in the year as well.

We for sure have an information overload problem. With so many features offered, it can feel like a firehose for the reader I know.

We sent a dedicated email today for it. And we've been calling out regularly on the Daily Email Update. It's a fine line between making people aware and making things too cluttered.

We'll keep at it. Thanks for the suggestions there.

The same thing happened last year, so I wouldn't be too worried right now. Last year the contest closed on midnight 6 Sep, and you posted 8 hours prior to the deadline there were only 5300 entries. It turned out 4700 more entries piled in in the last 8 hours, and the final tally was 9966! There's still about 57 hours to contest closing, so you are actually ahead of last year.

Holy crap. Is there anything that @TheWinz doesn’t keep track of in relation to this contest?!?!?!???!!! (So great!)


@Joe Bryant great to hear that subscriptions are up for FBG. That’s the main drive behind all of these contests, so congrats on the return on investment.

I dont think I'll ever be able to enter this contest with less than 3 qbs...apparently when I got bounced a couple years back with only 2 qbs it scarred me.

It was difficult to select Daniels as Qb1 of 3 given how popular Goff will be, but I do think Daniels, Williams and possibly Tua, Rodgers and Cousins will outperform Goff because I predict a modest regression in Detroit's passing statistics. This also applies to why I took Khalil Shakir over Jameson Williams...and also because Shakir has a shot to lead Buffalo in targets when Williams is clearly behind St Ra and LaPorta.

Excluding pricy CMC, I don't like the value proposition of any of the other top 20 RBs besides Pacheco and Jacobs. Maybe Hall, Barkley and Etienne will deliver but the price turned me off.

There are some FBG staffers who think Najee Harris will exceed expectation and this tempted me to move off Montgomery but I just don't trust the situation in Pittsburgh.

As mentioned in earlier post, I'm not thrilled about Dobbins but don't want to be caught short if that stock soars.

For what it's worth, interest in the contest has been abysmal this year. We normally have 10,000-12,000 entrants.

Had less than 5,000 this morning. That's terrible to be giving away this much money and have such little interest.

I know this group is super into it. But overall, it's been terrible.

Doesn't change anything for this year but wow.

Joe - I think I mentioned this last year or the year before when it was asked how to increase participation (or something like that).

I have never seen any advertising for Foitballguys that included the contest. I had a bunch of Footballguys ads show up when I was on Facebook, but I am always surprised that the contest is never mentioned.

My other thought is that you should hire a tik tok influencer to show them completing their entry for this contest. I would have tried some stuff on Reddit as well.
