As for your statements, no. This is where I am with it and what I posted earlier. The contact didn't change anything, the shot was clean albeit a tad high. Nothing changed except contact on the follow through.

Romero cleared a ball in the box, follow through caught the opposing player on the shin - and it was a red card and Pen against Romero.

Here you get Kane who hits a defender on his follow through - and he get the pen, and the defender gets the card.

True although possibly a concern for CONMEBOL world cup qualification, which is 6 games into an 18 game schedule. I'm sure they're in no real danger of missing out though - currently sit in second place after 6 games. The top 6 qualify and the 7th has a play-in.

Exactly.

If the defender had won the ball but hit Kane the same way on the follow-through they still would have called a foul and PK on the defender. So why is Kane doing exactly the same thing not only not a foul, but actually DRAWS a foul?

Yes. And, No.

SO, a lot depends on the team, and the timing - many the "big" name players have been playing in the Euros and Copa. This players will typically get 3 weeks of vacation after they are eliminated - so many won't be on any US tours in the next few weeks.

Having said that - these are preseason games, and teams are trying to build fitness in all of their players - and so, end of July and early August expect 1st team players to get at least a half, if not 60 minutes.

These are friendlies - so the players are not at maximum effort - but its not an exhibition kick around, either.


I saw Spurs play Man City in Nashville several years ago - and it was a fun atmosphere with the fans before and during the game.

The tickets tend to be over-priced - but, unless you are planning to travel to Europe to see these players - probably your best chance.

It really depends on the club, player and situation who plays, suits up, etc but often a crapshoot. Normally fans in the area will come out to support their club so there's some atmosphere but the matches aren't very exciting imo.

Going to see Celtic/Chelsea in South Bend in a couple weeks. Should be fun for the kids, even if the game is meaningless.

Saw Barcelona in Ann Arbor a few years ago. Messi didn't play, but I think most of the other starters did. It was fun, but not necessarily intense or exciting. The players cared as much as I expected them to - they were out on the field and soccer was happening, so may as well try to win. It wasn't like the pro-bowl or anything like that.

Okay I just pulled up my ticket orders to check and it appears I conflated two matches that we went to in a short span. This was in 2017 in Salt lake City. Apparently it was USMNT vs. Venezuela in June and then RSL vs. Man U a month later. My memory ain't what it used to be apparently seeing Pulisic and seeing the Man U guys were in back to back matches, not the same one.

These are friendlies - so the players are not at maximum effort - but its not an exhibition kick around, either.


I saw Spurs play Man City in Nashville several years ago - and it was a fun atmosphere with the fans before and during the game.

The tickets tend to be over-priced - but, unless you are planning to travel to Europe to see these players - probably your best chance.

They'll typically roll out the big names because that's who people are paying to see. That doesn't mean they're going all out or that they'll play for very long.

I saw RM vs Roma years ago when it was the Galacticos, including Zidane (wub) and it was amazing. Definitely both teams going for it.. as it was later in the summer just before they were going home.

That was the best one. I've seen tons in-between, including CRO scoring a bunch of goals at Yankee stadium. I also missed Zlat over two games because he was sold from one team to the other and missed both games.

If you're a fan of one team or the other, its a great opportunity to see the players live, and to see a bunch of B and C team guys who might be future stars.

Given the outrageous ticket prices, the Copa final tonight should easily be the highest gate revenue of any game played in America, in history.

It would not shock me if it was one the highest ever in soccer history no matter where the game was played.
