Yeah, not up my alley, but thanks for alerting me to a new record from the Raveonettes. I like that band a lot, actually.Yeah. Kinda shoegaze blah.
I think you had it right- their more garagey stuff way back was more appealing to me, but off hand I don't think I've loved their newer soundYeah, not up my alley, but thanks for alerting me to a new record from the Raveonettes. I like that band a lot, actually.
This is pretty good. It's more polished and less shoe-gazey than their first album with a definite improvement in the quality of songwriting hooks.New Sunflower Bean record today
Sounds a lot different that their last one. I like it.This is pretty good. It's more polished and less shoe-gazey than their first album with a definite improvement in the quality of songwriting hooks.
RIYL: Alvvays, Beach House and similar poppy bands with girl singers.
I misread this initially as Y&T who are playing the Fillmore tomorrow for some reason.New YLT it's nice but a little too down beat
The summertime girls are there.I misread this initially as Y&T who are playing the Fillmore tomorrow for some reason.
Lol. I actually thought the same thing as I acronymed them.I misread this initially as Y&T who are playing the Fillmore tomorrow for some reason.
If I recall correctly Y&T is based in San Francisco. Pretty sure they still play a set of shows there annually.I misread this initially as Y&T who are playing the Fillmore tomorrow for some reason.

For some reason remember them being North Bay... But I think that's Night Ranger.Eephus said:East Bay band
Missed this... Listening now and likeyThis is a good listen. RiYL Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, the Clean, guitars.
Been listening to this again this week... Harkens back to their early hook driven and loud/dumb golden era, imo. Really liking thisThe new Superchunk album sounds surprisingly good to me.
I wanted to go to that. The boss said no.I misread this initially as Y&T who are playing the Fillmore tomorrow for some reason.
Tell her that it is OK, and that you have my permission.I wanted to go to that. The boss said no.
Also really enjoying Germany Germany's Juneau. Title trackSteve Tasker said:Absolutely loving Computer Magic's Danz. Album gets dangerously close to being just another fuzzy synthy female vocalist in the rotation, but there's just something about this one that grabs me. Right up my alley genre-wise. "Perfect Game"
Yeah, this is really good. I gave it a listen when it came out and kind of glossed over it, I guess I was working or something at the time because I really like this. It is basically a solo act - Meg Remy who is American but has lived in Toronto and been around the local clubs for at least five years I'd say and the "group" with her here are all regulars from that scene. They've been a hyped band for a while here but this lives up to it.Something called U.S. Girls (a solo act I think) with a new album I thought sounded pretty good, fresh/hip with a lot of influences, that kind of thing
I own a Dr. Octagon shirt. I haven't even gotten around to listening to a new Deltron, but Kool Keith will do.Friends, shut it down.
there's a new Dr Octagon (yes, it's Keith+Automator) out tomorrow.

He does during some drafts, actually. He participates. He's a pretty darn cool guy and would love your OMD reference, if I'm not mistaken, though I can't speak for him.Does John Madden's Lunchbox still post here? I haven't been active here in years, but we went to see OMD a couple of nights ago and it made me think of him. They were suprisingly awesome for old dudes.
If you saw an African-American woman on crutches in front of the stage, that would be Mrs. EephusDoes John Madden's Lunchbox still post here? I haven't been active here in years, but we went to see OMD a couple of nights ago and it made me think of him. They were suprisingly awesome for old dudes.
They played a show at the GAMH earlier this year.Really bringing back the 90's, because Jawbreaker's back in the studio this summer.
Yeah, I heard Jawbreaker was playing shows. I was never into them, but it's a cool development. They played a show at the GAMH earlier this year.
You know, I'm pretty sure I did see an african-american woman on crutches at the show, but afterwards. That's pretty neat.If you saw an African-American woman on crutches in front of the stage, that would be Mrs. Eephus

Yeah they've been ramping 'em up. They've played a few shows here, LA and NYC. Maybe I'm biased, but it seems like they're still more "real band" than just "reunion cash-in." Although I certainly don't begrudge 'em the money. They played a show at the GAMH earlier this year.
He was in a band called Thorns of Life awhile back, which then morphed into the forgetters (a couple of songs carried over), who put out an album that's ok. But thorns of life was the cat's pajamas. Vivid Green and Ribbonhead were great. No real official studio stuff, just gotta find whatever on Youtube.I hope Jawbreaker records some new material. I'd be interested in hearing what Blake Schwarzenbach has to say at age 50.
I think I like his records with Jets to Brazil better than JawbreakerHe was in a band called Thorns of Life awhile back, which then morphed into the forgetters (a couple of songs carried over), who put out an album that's ok. I do, too, actually.I think I like his records with Jets to Brazil better than Jawbreaker
I really liked her "Housequake" rip-off/homage song until it got used in a Cadillac commercial that was played constantly on college basketball streams.how about Lizzo? missy elliotish.
Had the same reaction and lack of memory.New Amen Dunes is supposed to be good. I know I’ve listened to him before but I don’t recall being super into it.
Huge Eels fan.anybody an Eels fan? riyl- Spoon, imo... but with more of a throwback sound. their new singles have all been really good- recommend.
There are four singles out- no album yet.Huge Eels fan.
Ive only heard the first single and liked it. Is the album out now?
Just got this and listened all the way through once. Really, really like it.I'm liking the new Decemberists. Everything is Awful in particular.
this one is pretty great- his voice can be a bit grating, but this tune (painkiller) has a full on horn section to cover it up.release radar with some new singles by bands I like (fingers' crossed)...
