Edit. Might be pure garbage.Nick Vermeil said:Yeah. So...... not feeling it upon first spin.
I think somebody astutely called it Liz Phair. which doesn't necessarily mean a bad thing. didn't feel as raw to me as last stuff... which I preferred.wazoo11 said:Thoughts on new speedy Ortiz album?

Yeah it's not necessarily a bad album on merit but AM elevates them to festival/arena headliners and they follow up with this?Seem to have made that lounge album nobody was clamoring for
Finn had a nice tribute on Instagram.I bought a bunch of Hold Steady tickets today. Feels like an appropriate response to Scott Hutchison's death.
They just played 3 Frightened Rabbit songs in a row on my local station. Thought that was unusual, the DJ then said they found his body today. Very sad.I bought a bunch of Hold Steady tickets today. Feels like an appropriate response to Scott Hutchison's death.
They are headlining festivals next month! I don’t see how they play much of this. Will give it more of a chance but not what I was hoping for.Yeah it's not necessarily a bad album on merit but AM elevates them to festival/arena headliners and they follow up with this?
As a former Seattlite I’m happy to hear that. Which station? 90.3 or 107.7? A different one? They just played 3 Frightened Rabbit songs in a row on my local station. Thought that was unusual, the DJ then said they found his body today. Very sad.
RIP
90.3. They just landed an anonymous 10 million dollar donation so they will continue to kick ###.As a former Seattlite I’m happy to hear that. Which station? 90.3 or 107.7? A different one?
I listen to a lot of KEXP in the kitchen because Alexa is comically bad at finding my Spotify selections. KEXP plays a good selection of new and old and it easier for me to find song names later on their website because they're Pacific time.90.3. When I moved to Salt Lake City for my job many years ago I was concerned that I wouldn’t find a great local radio station on the level of KEXP.I listen to a lot of KEXP in the kitchen because Alexa is comically bad at finding my Spotify selections. My other favorite streaming radio stations are WYMS Radio Milwaukee and BBC 6. I used to listen to a broader range of stations when we had an Internet radio box with presets. If you have an Echo, saving BBC 6 as a favorite in the app spared me from the first world agony of Alexa constantly choosing every BBC station except channel 6.
Anybody have any streaming radio recommendations that play good new music?

I’m particularly partial to the back to back shows on Saturday afternoons from 1-4 pm and 4-7 pm mountain time. When I moved to Salt Lake City for my job many years ago I was concerned that I wouldn’t find a great local radio station on the level of KEXP.
I was pleasantly surprised to find KRCL/90.9. Just as good.

Dunno if they're still around, but wfmu and kcrw were both good and hugely eclectic, with some new music formatting.I listen to a lot of KEXP in the kitchen because Alexa is comically bad at finding my Spotify selections. Of all the recent deaths of musical artists this is the saddest for me. I’m having a surprisingly hard time with itThis bums me out about FR because they were one of the first indie bands that I gravitated towards. I remember vividly get excited discovering them here when NV does his yearly countdown thread.

Hey!! I tried to PM ya when I first resurfaced but it wasn't working.
this is happening right nowoh! right... read that Pitchfork is having them play live the day before the record drops (it's official, May 18!):
Pitchfork is pleased to announce the next installment of Pitchfork Live. On Thursday, May 17, Parquet Courts will perform live from Rough Trade in Brooklyn. The broadcast will stream on Pitchfork’s homepage, Facebook, and YouTube. Tune in at 12 p.m. Eastern on May 17.
Matthew Sweet has a new one and it is that Matthew Sweet.Lots of (potentially) good stuff out tomorrow I think.
I think they're about to do Death Will Bring Change... which is odd, because FLoppinho is in DC with his 5th grade class.this is happening right now
so that Malkmus album... there are a handful of good tracks, but generally I feel like he's slowly turning into Jerry Garcia.release radar excited..
new albums:
Parquet Courts
Courtney Barnett
Stephen Malkmus & Jicks
new singles:
together Pangea
mourn
warmduscher
rolling coastal blackouts
bass drum of death (!!!)
AV club kind of panned this album but I don't know how it wasn't exactly what they/we/everyone was expecting and it absolutely nails it, soI ####### love Courtney Barnett![]()

Thought this too. More bouncy grooves with him highlighted. The unsung hero of Wide Awake! (besides Floppiño) is the bass player.
Not gonna lie I thought Savage wrot and sang everything until I saw your video. Need to go back and see who wrote what.Thought this too. More bouncy grooves with him highlighted.
Gotta say, I prefer the Savage tunes over the Brown tunes... But I give him credit for stretching out more.
