Wondering if I can get a little help here. I'd like to look at dead money by teams, both on a weekly and a season basis, but it's hard to get a good accounting of everyone's status. Here's what I have, for players available in the contest. Who am I missing or who do I have wrong? Thanks!

Out for season:
Nick Chubb
Aaron Rodgers
J.K. Dobbins
Mike Williams
Nyheim Hines
Russell Gage

Free agents/retired:
Ronald Jones
Leonard Fournette
Robbie Gould
Corey Davis
Elliott Fry
Caleb Shudak
Tristan Vizcaino
Carson Wentz

Currently on IR or PUP:
Diontae Johnson
Greg Dulcich
Evan Hull
Jeff Wilson Jr.
Cooper Kupp
Jelani Woods
Jonathan Taylor
Tyquan Thornton
Kyler Murray
Jamaal Williams
Chase Edmonds

Currently suspended:
Jameson Williams

At QB, you are missing Colt McCoy, but nobody chose him, so he was extinct from the start
At RB, I think Deneric Prince (KC), DeWayne McBride (MIN), and Corey Clement (ARI) are just practice squad guys
At WR, Richie James (KC) is on IR
At TE, the list seems accurate
At K, Cade York & Michael Badgley are homeless

Week 3 started with 35 folks still eligible for @Joe Bryant extra $100 prize. Today we mourn the loss of ... NOBODY!!!

Let's congratulate the following for advancing to week 4:

Of note
- Our highest score of the week comes from a Nick Chubb owner - @joey put up a monstrous 229.50
- Lots of high scores from players. The best you could've done was 359.6 points
- Matt Gay would've been RB4 this week!

Bring on week 4!

I have brought back my contest companion website for 2023!

I made it for one simple purpose: it allows you to see your players' performance for the entire season on ONE page. You just need to enter your team ID at the link above and watch the magic. (further instructions are at the link)

Once you have loaded your team the first time, you can then bookmark your team page if you like. No need to be entering your ID every time you come back.

This tool can also be used to track eliminated teams, if you want to see what could have been.

Feedback is welcome, have fun with it.
@apalmer

Could you please add the link above, the contest quarrier, and a link to the standings page to your first post?

Thanks for this. I noted that Dicker the kicker did not have a bye week assigned

Thanks. Added James. Pretty sure York and Badgley are still on practice squads, which means they (theoretically) could be elevated in any given week.

Ah it was actually that Week 5 byes weren't showing. Fixed now, thanks.

Dead Money Tracking

So I went through and looked at how much teams have tied up in dead money for at least this week. I'm including ONLY players who are (a) out for the season, (b) currently on IR, (c) currently free agents or retired, and (d) currently suspended. I'm not including players who are on practice squads (they could theoretically be elevated this week) or players who seem likely to be out this week but aren't on IR. Given that:

A shoutout to Big Dumb Luck (#109477) for the most ironic name in the contest. Not only was this team eliminated in week 2, but the roster includes Nick Chubb, Jeff Wilson, Cooper Kupp and Diontae Johnson, for $93 in dead money, most in the contest.

Of teams that are still alive, Palkia (#103708) leads the way with $83 in dead money, with Chubb, Kupp and Johnson but not Wilson.

As far as really really dead money, Halvo (#109258) is one of two teams (and the only living one) to hit the quadfecta of Rodgers, Chubb, Dobbins and Mike Williams. Nobody managed to add Nyheim Hines or Russell Gage to that combo.

Done. However, the link for the standings page changes every week.

Any ideas for best landing page when some asks where they need to go to see how they are doing? I was hoping that any future questions could just be answered with see OP's first post on page one.

QB Jalen Hurts - $25
QB Kenny Pickett - $10
My Pickett choice looks bad, but at least he was cheap.

RB Josh Jacobs - $29
RB David Montgomery - $18
RB Zach Charbonnet - $14
RB Tyler Allgeier - $9
RB Kenneth Gainwell - $8
RB Kareem Hunt - $6
This is a sorry bunch, but Jacobs' snaps and touches are elite, and I think he'll step it up. I'll need Gainwell and Allgeier to help out to have a shot.

WR Tyreek Hill - $33
WR Diontae Johnson - $18
WR Gabe Davis - $12
WR Marvin Mims Jr. - $8
WR Darius Slayton - $5
WR Tank Dell - $3
Sorry to see DJ get hurt, but this is my favorite group of my picks for this contest.

TE Darren Waller - $17
TE Juwan Johnson - $9
TE Jake Ferguson - $6
Waller a waste of money so far, but you have to love the 500 red zone looks Ferguson has so far.

PK Jake Elliott - $5
PK Cameron Dicker - $4
Blah, blah kickers.

TD New York Jets - $6
TD Green Bay Packers - $5
Blah, blah defense.

Forgive the crappy copy/paste (on mobile), but killing it so far with this group!

Didn't like 3 options for $3 each? Do you think Carlson, Fairbairn, Hopkins, or Santos will lose their jobs this year?
I threw out the rulebook and went $5 / $4 / $3 at kicker and $4 / $3 at defense. It got to the point where I no longer trusted the viability of only choosing $3 kickers. Pre-season bloodbath.

Maybe I'm just missing it, but in past years, weren't we able to see how our team performed each week? When I look at my team, I only see the results for the current week. But I can't seem to now find how I did week 2, week 1, and what the cut-offs were. Can somebody please direct me to how to find that "summary" team page?

Two choices:

1. sign up for Amy Eyes' player production page (see 1st post in this thread).
2. Go to the Week 3 results and change the last digit of the URL to the week you want to see.

Yeah I believe the site having the season-long view fell victim to a host change a couple years back. Army Eyes site does the job :tebow:

Officially nervous.

Six of my 22-man squad were involved in last night's game, and none acquitted themselves well.

Goff/16.5, AJones/1.9, Gibbs/7.1, JReed/8.5, LaPorta/11.6, Musgrave/1.6

Cousins ought to have no problem outpointing Goff, but I have no Carr insurance this week.
My RB stable is only 4 deep. JCook has to ball out, and could use another Wk3 performance out of McKinnon.
JReed was a flex WR. Need my trio of KAllen, Lockett, MThomas to at least keep him that way. Bring on those YOLO balls, Jameis! Can't count on any gravy out of Bourne and Hyatt.
Week 4 would be a really good time for Kinkead to break out vs the Dolphins.

I just finished compiling the kicker stats from last year's contest. Just like this year, many of last year's $3 options were on very short leashes. And if you simply followed @ZWK list of the safest ones, you would've been rewarded. Here's how ZWK ranked them well before the contest even closed (from safest to riskiest):
Zane Gonzalez (CAR) - Season ending IR before the contest closed, so nobody should've rostered him, but he was actually more common than Santos (431 to 427)
Graham Gano (NYG) - Kept his job all season, and finished as K6 - 8th most common K
Cairo Santos (CHI) - Kept his job all season, but missed week 4 due to injury, finished as K22 - 25th most common K
Kaimi Fairbairn (HOU) - Kept hi job all season, and finished as K15 - 11th most common K
Greg Zuerlein (NYJ) - Kept his job all season, and finished as K9 - 10th most common K

Rodrigo Blankenship (IND) - Lost his job after week 1, kicked 1 more week when Prater was hurt, finished as K30 - nearly 5 times more common than any other K in the contest
Ryan Santoso (JAC) - Cut before the contest closed, so nobody should've rostered him, but 41 rosters had him (likely early or joke entries)
Austin Seibert (DET) - Lost his job after week 3, didn't latch on to any other team, finished as K29 - 4th most common K

ZWK warned against Blankenship & Seibert, but many folks were only concerned with the possibility of rostering a cheap K on a solid O, and it backfired. Using the 4 bolded "safest" kickers, you could've chosen any 2 for $6 and scored an average of 178.45 points. For reference, the highest scoring contest kicker was Maher at 167.9 points, owned by a mere 338 folks.

The reason I posted the above was to show that selecting cheap kickers isn't as hard as many think. Just avoid the temptation of trying to find a sneaky O, and concentrate on the kicker. So, how did the masses do this year?

1220 - Hopkins - 3rd most common - In battle with Dicker when contest opened, but secured CLE gig before contest closed - barring injury, the job is his
1153 - Badgley - 6th most common - Fool's gold! Why would anyone roster this scrub? In his only full season, he led the league... in missed FG's!
817 - Carlson (Anders) - 13st most common - Great pedigree, and the only kicker GB really considered for this season
799 - Santos - 14th most common - He ain't a sexy pick, but he's been a 91% FG kicker since joining the Bears 4 years ago - he is safe
581 - Fairbairn - 19th most common - He's been the Texans kicker for 7 straight years and they are happy with him - he is safe
503 - Maher - 20th most common - I would've avoided, but I can understand why people may have chosen him
22 - Gould - 31st most common - Easy to avoid
11 - Fry- 32nd most common - Easy to avoid
5 - Shudak - 33rd most common - Easy to avoid

Overall, there were less pitfalls than last year. I think Blankenship & Seibert really scared off some folks from the cheap options this year.

1153 - Badgley - 6th most common - Fool's gold! Why would anyone roster this scrub? In his only full season, he led the league... in missed FG's!

503 - Maher - 20th most common - I would've avoided, but I can understand why people may have chosen him

Bu..bu..bu..but he's the Money Badger!
(No I didn't have him)

Maher I stayed away from mainly bc of the whole cut on deadline day - even though he was resigned to practice squad. Not nearly enough security for my liking.

Security and health are always what I try to keep as my two biggest factors if at all possible. I did sneak a $4 guy (Sanders) into the mix to make it a $10 investment at the position. I think this preseason just had things fall a bit clearer than last year which has helped everyone.

Drafted kickers that aren't shaky in preseason generally seem okay too - Hopkins is sorta a variation on that as the Browns traded for him. You don't cut as quickly when you have put an asset into the pick.

I'll always consider having diversity at the position as paramount and get 3 guys for $9 to $11. I just feel like having a solid floor is way more important than the odd big game at the position.

If the two previous posts have you wondering how the kickers are doing so far this year, below is the full list of kickers this year, and their stats through the first 3 weeks.
Obviously, it's very early and 3 weeks is not much to go on, but this is where they're at currently...

If the post above has you wondering, Justin Tucker for $8 is a massive waste of money! But for some reason, he keeps being a very common contest kicker (9th this year). I get it - he is very likely the best kicker that ever lived, but him at $8 is like Mahomes for $60. The only way you get your money's worth is if he blows all other kickers out of the water, and somehow gets traded before his week 13 bye to a team that's already had theirs.

For fantasy purposes I think the most important qualities to consider in choosing a kicker are... job security, number of opportunities to score, overall skill level of the kicker, and accuracy from beyond 50 yards .... and probably in that same order. We have all seen the statistics and we should know by now that usually the difference in points scored between the best and the worst kicker in the league, is always way smaller than the difference between their salary cap numbers. That said, it follows that usually a $3 or $4 kicker with job security will give you the most bang for the buck and the highest return on investment. You can see how that is shaping up so far in the chart I posted earlier.

Note: I edited the chart in my previous post to include return on investment (ROI) in the last column. This shows how your cap dollars are at work for you (y); ( or not :frown: )

Good luck to everyone this weekend. This is the first week that the
cut line goes up to 20%

Always interesting to try to figure out optimum platoons

How does Tucker alone do vs ..
3 $3 kickers
2 $4 kickers (or a $5 and $3 kicker)

Do you have a weekly version of that chart @Puppies - kinda fun thought experiment (though a zillion combos).

Assuming we avoid the 0 guys.

There are 28*27*26 = 19,656 3 kicker combos.

756 2 kicker combos

And 28 solo options.

Bang for Buck calcs would be cool.

If you got that table I could chuck into access or something and spit out something I bet

The only way you get your money's worth is if he blows all other kickers out of the water, and somehow gets traded before his week 13 bye to a team that's already had theirs.

I added a column to the table that shows ROI, which I calculated as total points scored divided by cap dollars. That's the best way to calculate bang for the buck.

I've got all the stats for the first 3 weeks and I listed the totals and averages in the chart I assembled and posted. It also shows each kicker's cap number, so you can get the info you want from what I already posted.

It's clear that the best $3 kickers through the first 3 weeks are: Maher 14.27 ROI, Hopkins 11.90 ROI, and Fairbairn 10.93 ROI. Tucker is way down at 3.04 ROI. Tucker is PK19 through 3 weeks. So in addition to those three bargain ($3) kickers, there are seven (7) $4 kickers who have also outscored Tucker so far.

Note also that if we're talking return on investment (or ban for the buck), Tucker is PK26. Only 2 active (rostered) kickers who have a provided a lower return per dollar of salary cap.

I was looking more at the approach of multiple cheap guys as a combo vs a couple expensive guys. A little different compared to ROI on an individual kicker.

Thanks for all you do though :)

Let me finish compiling the K stats, and I can provide the numbers. I think I know what you are looking for. For example, I still have my data on D's, and here are some facts:
- Since 2010 (that's as far as my data goes back), there have been only 4 years where you could NOT purchase 3 for the price of 1 (2012, 2013, 2022, and 2023). Heck, in 2011, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018, there were even a handful of 4 for 1 options!
- In those 4 for 1 years, there were a total of 136 quad combos for the price of 1. It comes as no surprise that all 136 quad combos outscored the expensive ones. I doubt we will ever see 4 for 1 specials in the contest again.
- Since 2010, there have been 6623 trio combos for the price of 1. Of those, 6595 trio combos outscored the expensive ones (99.58%).
- For 2022 & 2023, all D's have been between $3 and $7, so no trio combos have been available.

If I get a wild hair up my ***, I may run the duo combos, but there's going to be an ungodly amount. Sadly, My kicker spreadsheets prior to 2019 up and vanished like a fart in the wind, but I would say 4 years of data is plenty to work with.

Thanks, please don't go crazy lol.

But year Winz gets more what I mean.

@QuizGuy66,@IHEARTFF,@TheWinz

I ran the numbers on Tucker vs three $3 kickers, and Tucker vs two $4 kickers.
I did not run Tucker vs 1x $3 and 1x $5 because that was more complicated and I've spent enough time on this already.
But I ran the first two scenarios to satisfy my own curiousity as well as yours.

Here's the deal: There are only 5 active $3 kickers, which means there are only 10 different combinations of three, without having duplicates.

Scenario 1 - Justin Tucker vs 3 x $3 kickers
In week 1, Tucker scored 5.9 points, and all five of the $3 kickers outscored him. Thus he loses to all 10 of the possible 3 x $3 combinations.
In week 2, Tucker scored 11.4 points, and outscored four of the $3 kickers. But he still loses to 6 of the 10 possible combinations of 3 x $3 kickers.
In week 3, Tucker scored 7.0 points, and beat only two of the $3 kickers. He loses to all 10 of the possible combinations of 3 x $3 kickers

Here's the deal: there are twelve $4 kickers, and therefore 66 possible combinations of two, without duplicates.

Scenario 2 - Justin Tucker vs 2 x $4 kickers
In week 1, Tucker scores 5.9 points, and is outscored by seven of the twelve $4 kickers. He loses to 56 of the possible 66 combinations of 2 x $4 kickers << Corrected #
In week 2, Tucker scores 11.4 points and outscores seven of the twelve $4 kickers, but still loses to 45 of the possible 66 combinations of 2 x $2 kickers. << Corrected #
In week 3, Tucker Scores 7.0 points and is outscored by seven of the twelve $4 kickers. He loses to 56 of the possible 66 combinations of 2 x $4 kickers.

Please give me a (y) for this post :ROFLMAO:. (I spent at least 2 hours on this). Now I've got to start getting a few other things done today...

More Justin Tucker vs other kicker scenarios
Upon reflection, I realized that with only two $5 kickers, the calculation of Tucker vs 1x $3 kicker and 1x$5 kicker would not be as involved as I originally tought.
So here are two more scenarios....

Scenario 3 - Justin Tucker vs 2 x $3 kickers (there are 10 possible combinations of 2 x $3 kickers without duplicates)
In week 1, Tucker is outscored by all $3 kickers, so he loses to all 10 possible combinations of 2 x $3 kickers.
In week 2, Tucker is outscored by only one of the $3 kickers, and loses to 4 of the 10 possible combinations, while beating 6 combinations of 2 x $3 kickers.
In week 3, Tucker is outscored by 3 of the five $5 kickers, and loses to 9 of the 10 possible combinations of 2 x $3 kickers

Scenario 4 - Justin Tucker vs 1 x $5 kicker and 1 x $3 kicker This is the one Quizguy66 asked for (there are 30 possible combinations without duplicates)
In week 1, Tucker is outscored by all five $3 kickers and one of two $5 kickers, He loses to all 30 combinations of 1 x $5 and 1 x $3 kickers.
In week 2, Tucker is outscored by one $3 kicker and one $5 kicker, and he loses to 14 of the possible 30 combinations of 1 x $5 and 1 x $3 kickers.
In week 3, Tucker is outscored by three of five $3 kickers and one of two $5 kickers. He loses to 26 of the 30 possible combinations of 1 x $5 and 1 x $3 kickers.

OK, here we go. Some in depth data about last year's 2 for the price of 1 options at kicker. Before we get to the numbers, a few things:
- I did not include any of the 10 kickers for $5, because they can't be used on either side of the 2 for 1 scenario
- I will not include Zane Gonzalez or Ryan Santoso in the data, because neither should've been on any roster. Zane was on IR and Ryan was waived before the contest closed.
- I will not include Chris Boswell or Randy Bullock ($4), who missed multiple games to injury. Same goes for Harrison Butker ($7). I am a big proponent of the cheap kickers, so I would love to keep Butker in to skew the numbers, but it wouldn't be fair to the data.

The $7 kickers, in order of commonality, were:
Justin Tucker - 1180 - 3rd most common - 158.1 pts (K3) - was outscored by 26 of 45 combos for $6 or $7
Tyler Bass - 556 - 18th most common - 156.5 pts (K4) - was outscored by 27 of 45 combos for $6 or $7

If you had steered clear of Blankenship and Seibert and chosen a $6 or $7 duo between the safer options Fairbairn, Gano, Santos, and Zuerlein, you would've outscored the $7 kickers 50 out of 52 times (96.2%). Even with Blankenship and Seibert in the mix (and saving a buck if you went with 2 K's for $3 each), you would've outscored the $7 kickers 53 out of 90 times (58.9%). And that's with Tucker & Bass finishing as K3 and K4!

The $6 kickers, in order of commonality, were:
Evan McPherson - 1218 - 2nd most common - 138.0 pts (K11) - was outscored by 10 of 15 $3 combos (the only ones he outscored had either Blankenship or Seibert)
Daniel Carlson - 759 - 14th most common - 162.9 pts (K2) - was outscored by 5 of 15 $3 combos
Matt Gay - 454 - 21st most common - 129.2 pts (K16) - was outscored by 12 of 15 $3 combos (the only ones he outscored had either Blankenship or Seibert)
Ryan Succop - 355 - 27th most common - 135.2 pts (K13) - was outscored by 10 of 15 $3 combos (the only ones he outscored had either Blankenship or Seibert)

If you had steered clear of Blankenship and Seibert and chosen a duo between the safer options Fairbairn, Gano, Santos, and Zuerlein, you would've outscored the $6 kickers 23 out of 24 times (95.8%). The only time you wouldn't have was the Fairbairn/Santos combo vs Carlson (159.5 vs 162.9). Even with Blankenship and Seibert in the mix, you would've outscored the $6 kickers 37 out of 60 times (61.7%).

So, what do the numbers above show? Well, in a nutshell, any time you can roster 2 for the price of 1 kickers, do your research to see which kickers you think will retain their jobs. It doesn't matter if they play on crappy O's or not, so long as they keep kicking. If a $3 kicker can keep the their job, they are worth it - simple as that. And even if a 1-for-2 kicker such as Tucker finishes at the top, he was still not worth it. There is only 1 scenario where I think rostering an expensive K is the right move, but it will likely never happen, at least not on my team. It's when you have chosen 29 players and have $7 left to spend on kickers.

Fantasy football is funny. Saints got beat bad by the Bucs, but Kamara is going to save my team. 11 rushes for 51 yards, 13 catches for 33 yards. Talk about inefficient catches...

So after 1pm:

134.55 + (McCaffrey/Walker III - 3.10/12.70/14.30/20.20) + (Mi Wilson - 12.70/14.30) + (Waller - 11.80)

Should be able to just get over the line with the 20% cut but with Burrow still struggling and now Pickett with a knee injury things have gotten much much more challenging moving forward.

-QG

1's, 2's, 3's, 4's and 5's...but somehow I'm over the cut line by 9. Whopping 6 and 7 as my flex scores. Still zero chance with the high scorers in the late games. Walker (-6) and Waller/Ferguson (-.5.5).

Sitting at 116.10. I'm going to need Waller (-3.85) and Lockett (-7) to save my bacon this week. Also have Matt Jones but it doesn't look like he will beat Lawrence. I'm going to be sweating the Turk it looks like.

142.5, with a few people left, most notably Mahomes {-5.6}. My K-squad RBs (Kyren, Khalil and Kamara) leading the way
