2024-25 NBA Thread: Finals return after 3-month hiatus (29 Viewers)

It would be best for both sides if Lebron did a sign or opt in and trade. Lakers aren't doing anything with this roster. Get Lebron another chance at a title and get a pick and young player for the Lakers.

Do you think first round exits are doing something?
They just got Luka and need time to build around him and James. They were a 50-win team. They just happened to play in the conference with 7 very good teams in it.

They don't have time to build around James unless you mean Bronny.
But with Lebron they have a year or two to compete. Then he retires and they have his salary slot and the LA allure and Luka.

So when James retires they just have to take his salary slot and fill it with another Lebron. Seems easy enough.
Yawn. Luka just made a finals with a bunch of guys. There is no logical reason to think that there is no world where LA surrounds him with enough talent to get back there. Will it happen? Maybe? Who knows. But they did the hard part already - getting a top 5 guy.

Kyrie isn't a bunch of guys and it was a magical run that rarely happens in the NBA and I was talking about during Lebrons time and how it would be best if he did a sign and trade.
It happens pretty often in the NBA when you have a top-5 player. The Lakers had to build the ship in the air this year but they’ll have more time to try and make it work this summer.

A lower seed making the or winning the finals? It doesn't happen that much.

Idk they were a 50-win 5-seed with one of these 2 or 3 best offensive players in the league. Wasn’t some plucky upstart.

The history of the NBA says they were. Top 3 seeds almost always make the finals from each conference regardless of wins and when someone does crash the party they usually get blown out in the finals.

Brunson gets the foul call when he leans into you and makes contact but he also he gets the call when he leans in and you aren't there and he topples over

That should have been a no-call. Brunson threw his elbow up into Schroder as he leaned into him. Crazy that Brunson keeps getting calls like this in a playoffs where refs seem to be allowing more play tk happen.

Every all star level player is getting that call.

nice comeback by the knicks after being up big and getting some strange results on video replay but you can see detroit coming take that to the bank brohans

Great job by the Knicks to end that game and terrible job by the Pistons. Moment just seemed too big for Detroit in the end. Kinda crazy not to double Brunson on their last possession IMO. No way he wasn’t taking that last shot

Really impressive season and really impressive fight by the Pistons in that series. Feels like the moment just got a little too big for them at the end, but they have a lot to be proud of.. They played with a lot of effort and the quality of the product that they put on the court this season is evidence that they have what it takes to keep building into an even brighter future.
