2024 Summer of Soccer - Euro's, Copa America, Olympics, WCQing (2 Viewers)

Field seems like it's slowly tilting against the US here. France more and more seems in control. US is doing a great job of being in the lanes, but not as good at picking up the second balls.

That kick save seemed really weird to me -- why didn't the French keeper go down to get it?
I think he was thinking Pax was going to send it upper right corner far post. I love that he went low near post instead... Forcing a sneakily good save from the GK.

To me, that was the best chance of the half for either team.

Good half from Busio and Tessman and sounds like good team shape overall to limit those French horses.

No complaints from me.

US was good on the ball, organized defensively, created a couple of chances, and crowd is mostly dead, giving the French players no extra juice.
Yep. I'd sign up for another 45 64 minutes just like that, and even if they lost it'd be OK.
oh yes, I agree. This level of quality against New Zealand and Guinea should give them a good chance to advance.

Long way to go though.

yeah, Howard correctly pointed out he got rooted. Had Aaronson dragged that one more foot to the left, I don't think the keeper could have saved it.

I assume the US will put up a nil yet again.

The goal today is not a result, it is to keep the tournament favorite from a blow out. 0-0 is about the best we could expect at half.
And Paxs attempt was the closest either team got to scoring. Not like the US is sitting in a low block and afraid to move forward. I think this comment is more about ongoing angst about the USs Copa performance..

Tessman's short passing under pressure was very good in that half. He made a handful of short passes that got the US out of a press and launched them into an attacking posture.

He has looked very good this half. Haven't seen him play in awhile so was interested in watching him as what I read out of Venezia was he was doing really well and was a key to their promotion.

you can see what the team and coach must think of him as well giving him the arm band when there are other more experienced players in the line up.

Boring can be beautiful.

This is a very quiet game and that's awesome for the US. No crowd, few big moments, no one's riled up. Just quietly drawing.

Looks like in youth we've got a bunch of guys that can create super dangerous chances but can't get that final touch quite right.

Exactly what we need for the next generation of the senior team. It'll feel like home.

Haven’t seen any of this team ever, but love their first touch and knowing what to do with the ball before they get it. Not a quality the US has had before. Very technical
Have you been watching any other youth teams? It's pretty common at this point. Check out the u20s next game vs CR

I have not, but thank you for the heads up. Really nice to us playing like that

And according to Pre, the US team is missing most of its top players.

Care to revise this 😂. We suxor.

Really like Howard's technical commentary - especially with what the goalies are doing. He pointed some things out I never would have even thought of or considered.

This is interesting. A 3 goal win is what I kind of expected but the game has not progressed in terms of French dominance as I expected.

I guess this speaks to how good France is. They can play well below par and still win handedly.

I still like the US chances to advance though if they play like this against NZ and Guinea. The game against NZ though is probably a must win now because of that 3rd goal.
