2024 Summer of Soccer - Euro's, Copa America, Olympics, WCQing (1 Viewer)

I have to admit, I truly enjoy rooting for countries in international soccer that I couldn’t pick out on a map.

Southgate watching the game now - leans over to Steve Holland: "Spain has to learn all that fancy footballing stuff won't get them anywhere."

Missed everything today up until now. My quick summary of how I'm feeling, (even though I'm sure no one cares)

- So sad Italy is out still, even if I didn't have major expectations this tournament. Wanted to see them battle England.

- UGH how close England was to being done! Hate England more than any team/country/fans in the world. They're just awful. Such a good team on paper, was really hoping they'd get shocked today, and seeing the score/goal times was heartbreaking.

- 2nd most disliked team is Spain, so turning on the TV with it being 1-0 Georgia was a nice surprise. This doesn't look very close though, this will end 3-1 Spain.

- This has to be one of, if not the most exciting Euros of all time in terms of underdogs winning, small countries stepping up, and late goals. I simply can't believe how manky injury time goals have been scored... can any stat nerds pull up the record for injury time goals scored in a Euro?

Dropped into a brewery for the second half, figuring I'd watch on my phone but they have it on a TV. Both sides look like they're wearing pink but that's ok. 😀

It kills me that Jesus Navas is still on this team. Santi Cazorla wasn’t available?

That felt like a "let's get this guy a few EURO 2024 minutes now while we can" substitution.
I think he played against Albania. Might have even started. I know, meaningless game.

But it’s funny. Navas has been a good player a long time. But it’s not even as if England were still bringing Raheem Sterling. More like if they were still bringing James Milner.
