Can we discuss pet peeves here? (15 Viewers)

I don’t adjust her rearview mirror
Do you also not adjust her seat or temp controls or change the radio station? What the hell
Speaking of this... one of my current kid-related peeves is them changing the station in MY car when I'm shuttling them around. I don't want to fuss at them too much (I already feel like I do too much) but after them flipping from station to station, I end up saying "YO IT'S MY CAR!" and put it on country.
My pet peeve is rentals that don't easily connect to my phone. Who tf cares what radio station is on, my car has never used a radio station ever. Idk if it even has radio.

One of my best travel-related purchases has been SiriusXM. I do a lot of driving when I'm traveling for business, and who the heck wants to Google what the local ESPN affiliate is? Not me. I plug my phone in and fire up SXM. (edit - there have been times when the USB connection in my rental gives out mid-trip... what a pain in the a$$)

But when I'm driving my own rig locally, I usually just listen to the local country channel. Sometimes classical if it's been a stressful day. But my kids will switch back and forth between the "pop" channels, which drives me nuts. Holy hell I would have never done that driving around with my parents.

Socks that have a little L on one and an R on the other. Aren't all socks the same. I usually only notice after I put them on. Does it really matter ?

Have you ever worn the Nike basketball socks? They adjust where the cushioning is so yes there is in fact a difference.

Idk about other socks.
Yea, I have a couple pair of socks that are foot specific and they are glorious

It's terrible that the dryer only likes the right socks so all you have is what's left

we do pretty well with compromising.

mrs and i fly out tomorrow to help our daughter move out of her dorm. i will be driving back with her in her car sat/sun. she is a swiftie :wall:

I usually respond and reach out to people in anywhere from 15-30 minutes both by phone and electronically.
Wish I dealt with people like you more often, fine sir. I fill out forms and **** and get ghosted far too often. WTF people - I am reaching out because I want to give you my money
Had one of these peeps finally get back to me today. I sent a last gasp, Hail Mary email at the 10-day mark and finally heard back after 4 emails and 3 voicemail messages. Loved the response: "Sorry I missed your communication last week. I was tied up with some personal errands." I can't imagine how many errands that would be if it took 10 days to do them all. Had to be a lot.

I've got one of these currently going on, I'm on Day 7 of no response.

I called the person, explained why I'm calling, asking for assistance about X. They tell me to send an email to this inbox and someone will respond within 24 hours. I sent the email 10 minutes later. They wait 3 days to respond, and tell me that my request is pretty specific and technical so they need to elevate me to XYZ team, similar to when you put in an IT ticket I guess. 4 more days go by, still no response. I call them again and ask status. "Oh yeah we have your ticket, someone will get with you".

WELL WHEN THE HECK IS THAT GOING TO HAPPEN?!?!?!?!?!

I dunno if I should be offended when people come over and call my dog fat.

"She looks like she is putting on weight".

I mean, are you calling her fat?

She's more happy than they are.

Because she doesn't have to go to therapy every week.

I’m sure it’s been mentioned but I’ll be more specific.

People who talk on speakerphone at the barbershop. Dude next to me having a full blown conversation about nothing.

It shouldn’t bother me because after all, we are in a barbershop and there are people talking but it’s still annoying.

He’s currently in the chair ahead of me complaining about….everything.

Ah well. Still gonna be an awesome day .

These people also watch videos on their phones in public settings without earphones.

Anyone else getting text threats daily with fines, jail time, vehicle loss, bamboo shoots under fingernails, theft of firstborn child, and murder due to unpaid tolls? It's every single day at this point...
My son got one and we don't even have any toll roads in the state.

I need to pay more attention when I am driving. I cant believe how many tolls i have racked up. I really appreciate "Frank" keeping me out of jail though.

I've never been a big Madden player, but my son got it for Chanukah so I've been getting into it lately.

Lots of stupid little quirks, but I think this one tops the list: I have been watching football for more than four decades. In all of that time I can recall exactly two instances where an NFL team employed the fake spike (Marino vs Jets and Stafford vs Cowboys). Yet every team's Madden playbook contains not one, not two, but three different fake spike plays. Even worse, if you accidentally hold down the B button at the conclusion of the previous play, it defaults to a fake spike for the next play. And even worse than that, once you go into that formation, you can only audible to other fake spike plays. Which means if you don't want to fake spike, you either have to burn a timeout or let the play clock run down and take a delay penalty.

What purpose does this serve? If someone on the EA design team had a chub for fake spikes, I could see burying a single call in the playbook and letting those in the know use it when they wanted (which is pretty much what they do with other trick plays). But why are they so determined to force us to use it?

i haven't played madden in a long time... are you able to change the audibles pre-game?

I made a warranty claim of a product and unchecked every box regarding receiving marketing.

Be shocked everybody, I still got marketing email coming in daily now that i have to waste effort to get eliminated...again.

Trying to figure that out, but I don't think so

By point of comparison, if you want to run a flea-flicker, you have to use the Chargers playbook. RB or TE passes are only available for the Dolphins, Bengals and Cardinals. In all cases, you have to really hunt to find the plays (or look them up online). But with the fake spike EA goes full Oprah: "You get a fake spike! You get a fake spike!"

If you are going to have a m************ meeting and then ask questions and then have a similar meeting 2 or 3 days later to check in on the progress and stuff. Don't ask the same m************ questions you asked 3 days ago in the first meeting because I'm tired of sitting there and listening to people repeat their s***.

And it's more than just one of you. Write this s*** down or don't ask a question if you don't really care about the answer

Go to Home Depot at lunch for their Kingsford charcoal 2 pack special.

This is an easy in and out for me: grab cart, load 4 of them up, go to self check-out.

BOOOM - in and out in like 5 minutes tops.

EXCEPT, our local home depot up here decides to put check out people at the self checkout for "Assisted Check Out".

WHAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTT???? :wall::wall::wall::wall::wall::wall::wall::wall::wall::wall::wall:

The haircut place closes at 6:00PM. I'm in luck, I arrive at 5:20PM. I walk in and see two hairdressers, one mid-cut and the other sitting on her hands.

"I'm sorry sir, there is already a 5:30PM appointment which is my last for the day."

So I didn't get a haircut. I get the whole "online appointment" thing and maybe I should have booked online, but just seems kind of silly I couldn't get a haircut with 40 minutes left to close. It was the weekend and I get it, next thing you know you're staying 10-15 minutes after close, but it just seemed like laziness vs a legitimate excuse. I mean, I could see if I walked in at 5:40PM and demanding service, but whatever.

How long does it take to cut your hair? I have very short hair and it's still about 15-20 minutes. That cuts into the next appointment in your scenario and would back them up past closing.

No, I totally get it, I was just hoping there was a hungry worker in there who didn't mind staying late an extra 10 minutes to earn 2 cash tips instead of just 1. Maybe she had a hot date.

You expected her to bump the appointment past closing? I don't think that's going to happen. The alternative is the 5:30 gets in the chair as promised and then at 6 she takes care of you to 6:30 past closing. I don't know what you thought was going to happen.

Trying to book both NFL tickets and a hotel nearby the stadium.
They both offer rates that are slightly lower if I agree to "no cancelation".
When did this become a thing? Now I have to decide how much I want to gamble. Do I want to take the lower price and pray nothing happens? Or pay a higher cost and have some peace of mind.
I don't want to gamble when booking events. This is dumb and ticks me off.

I had no expectations. I just figured 40 minutes was plenty enough lead time to get a haircut by close in most retail locations. My haircut only takes about 15-20 minutes. Seems like there would have been a creative way to manage to squeeze me in if the interest was making money / serving as many customers as possible.

Sometimes the McDonalds drive thru is backed up at closing, yet I'm never told that it's too late to get a hamburger.

I've worked retail in a full service deli/butcher, and by far my biggest pet peeve were people who came in late and expected us to stay past closing to serve them. The last thing we wanted was to stay late after 8 hours on our feet.

Your situation is nowhere near that same level of entitlement, but I understand their feelings in that situation.

Absolutely! Like I said, I was there 40 minutes before close. I assume that most people get service about 85% of the time in this situation. If I'm a bad guy for going to the Hair Cuttery 40 minutes before close and expecting to be able to get a haircut, then yes, I am a bad guy.
Trying this at 99 other different cutteries would be a good test of your estimate.

They likely posted in their Purse forum pet peeve thread about you. Guy without an appt walks in 40 mins before closing and expects us to stay late for him.

I got the 15% outcome, which is fine. The pet peeve itself is the online appointment. Before that, these places were strictly walk-ins that served the next customer so that the hairdresser would have immediately start cutting my hair, instead of turning away business for the company.
That can work only if the person sits at 5:20. Them booking the 5:30 changes the time line.

Now, not sure why the barber with someone in the chair couldn’t get you in afterwards.

I see stories all the time where people bring up scenarios like this. I just read a thread in my subdivisions local facebook group where people showed up to a local bar and grill that closes at 9 at 8:20. Told right away half the menu was off limits and that they would be kicked out at 5 minutes to 9.

Twenty years ago that never would have happened.

Everybody now pretends that they support businesses doing this stuff. But once it actually happens to them they are still pissed about it. Especially people that previously held those jobs and understood customer service and felt they were being reasonable in what they wanted.

Just add it to the long list of being nickel and dimed at every turn.

That's ridiculous. No wonder so many places are going out of business nowadays.

The other week the family and I went out to a restaurant at 7:30 and it closed at 8. Since we were dining in they were a little annoyed (more of a fast food place than a fancy sit down place though.) It's tough. From our POV (customers) we want what we want when we want it but from their POV they have to pay their employee's wages and going over time limit costs THEM money.
The haircutting one may be different since depending on where he was they might be an independent contractor. Obviously they are people too and maybe after a shift all they want to do is go home or might have some other plans that don't include us.
