I didn't really know his stuff, just the name. I do like the sound of his voice and I like how he works with others... but just didn't get into any of the songs I heard today.Ohhh. I never liked that other larger than life figure. Pun intended.
I'm not going to throw these out but they go against the spirit of the category.ETA: Not to be a Richard...
@Eephus- Two questions about 'Other instruments'
Mister CIA chose George Martin on the 'Piano' and Waingro chose Tito Puente as 'Percussion.' Should these be in the 'Keyboards' and 'Drums' categories or are we not being that specific?

A piano is the very definition of a keyboard. I could see picking Martin with "studio" as the instrument but he's really not the kind of producer like Scratch Perry who made studio trickery a big part of his sound.
Puente is probably best known for his work on the timbales which are drums. He's not a guy like Airto (alive) or Nana Vasconcelos (deceased) who banged on a box full of percussion instruments.
Sorry for any confusion. I figured the rules were dead. That's what I was thinking, just wanted to get your opinion.![]()

Awesome singer and great pick. "Son Of A Preacher Man" is one of the sexiest vocals ever laid to wax. I bet Billy Ray didn't last 10 seconds.9 or 10 - Vox - Dusty Springfield - Wishin' and Hopin'
It's a sad day, but Dusty is our third in the triumvirate of singers. Wishin' and Hopin', folks.
Great pick, wikkid. I was never a huge Tupac fan but will always remember being in D.C. with a guy that was and listening to I Get Around and just vibing one morning.wikkidpissah said:

That would put Ms. Dusty for your 10th. That will be tomorrow. Our last 3 picks should have been Ornette, Dilla and Dusty...whatever round that puts us atYou don't have a 9 listed, do you want this as your ninth? Great song.

) so probably saw them more than anybody else during those college years (late 80s) before they hit. they get kind of a bad rap for an association with spin doctors and being an 80s jam band.. but they were really fun and hugely talented on their instruments. had no idea the bass player died- not much older than me. :(  We were talking about this, Eephus. It's not a fun day; it's downright awful. In retrospect, I probably should have made the start of the draft the cutoff for eligibility. But I didn't so the Petty pick will stand eventually I guess.
I'm feeling bummed about TP and the state of the world in general today. I'll pick my 9th rounder tomorrow.
Folk singer Tom Paley died over the weekend at the age of 89. If I was a musician named Tom P###y, I'd be hiding under my bed right now.We were talking about this, Eephus. It's not a fun day; it's downright awful.
Not yet as of 6:09 EDT / 3:09 PDT.He's off life support - but has he been announced dead yet?

An administrative song for Scott Norwood to sing.@ScottNorwood - I had you picking D Boon and Wayne Jackson in the 8th round, and you chose WJ. I hadn't seen you do D Boon for 9th. If you want to do that, we can.
So is it like he's on the Patriots and is "doubtful"?Tom Petty isn't actually dead yet fwiw.
I read he's not dead and they retracted some earlier statements. So is it like he's on the Patriots and is "doubtful"?
I am rescinding my Petty pick. Or petty pick depending on your POV.In retrospect, I probably should have made the start of the draft the cutoff for eligibility. But I didn't so the Petty pick will stand eventually I guess.

I was going to post something snarky about Sarah/Sharon but life is short and we should all be nicer to each other
Had no idea she passed.
Yes. That's bad and not what we want to have here. You guys please do this somewhere else.Am I bad if whenever I read that I think of this?
